Job Description
- The purpose of this position is to provide daily support of safety and occupational health programs, assuring effective management of H&S risks and compliance with applicable governmental, and local H&S regulations and company policies.
- Supports the development and maintenance of accurate, up-to-date, and complete site records for HSS-related activities.
- Additional miscellaneous duties as needed including oversight of fire protection systems.
- Assists in the investigation of safety incidents and facilitates (coaches and overseas) site Operations' implementation of corrective actions.

- Prepares incident investigation reports and workplace risk analyses.
- Provides advice on techniques effective, sustainable HSS risk controls, following the hierarchy of control, to prevent further incidents.
- Coordinates activities & training of emergency response & emergency plan to the staff.
- Develops and delivers health and safety training programs, such as task-specific risk and control training, behavior-based, safety orientations, safety update & safety equipment training.
- Assists in the development and implementation of risk management processes and procedures to ensure the on-going safety and health of employees.
- Routinely audits and "in-process-checks" all workplaces' risk prevention and compliance assurance processes through risk assessments, inspections, and behavior observations.
- Coaches and facilitates operations personnel's implementation H&S procedures including (1) clarifying the roles of others who will assist with (or lead) each program; (2) assuring the development of prioritized action plans with timetables for execution; and (3) participating in the development of plant-specific procedures and methods.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational H&S discipline, Science, or Engineering preferred.
- Chemical Industry Manufacturing/Mining industry experience preferred.
- Bachelor’s Degree with 3 years of professional experience in industrial occupational health and safety program management in a manufacturing environment.
- Certified Safety Professional is preferred
- Proficient Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook), basic understanding of databases required.
- Working knowledge of safety and occupational health regulations required.
- Able to apply current requirements to the work setting and the site or business unit requirements required.
- Knowledge of adult training techniques required
- Ability to interface effectively throughout the facility’s workforce required
- Strong verbal and written communication skills required
- Must be able to work independently required
- Strong Attention to detail required
