Job Description

  • Om Habibeh Foundation (OHF) is implementing a five-years skills development programme. It is an initiative in collaboration with Aga Khan Foundation (Egypt), Aga Khan Foundation, Canada, Global Affairs Canada and local partners in Aswan Governorate. Aswan Skills Development Project (ASDP) focuses on strengthening the quality and range of vocational and technical training programmes, as well as providing professional development trainings to young women and men in Aswan Governorate.

Position Objectives:

  • The IT Officer will play the leading role in the installation, maintenance and administration of the Microsoft Windows based Networking & Systems in Aga Khan Foundation, Egypt in Cairo and Om Habibeh Foundation in Aswan. He/She will ensure availability of IT services at all times for all employees; maintain Standard Operational Procedures and the smooth operation of the IT function across the Organization; and will provide IT support for all the staff. The IT Officer will provide user assistance in the definition and development of required business applications.

Main Job Duties:

Network Administration

  • Install / administer / monitor / troubleshoot network related systems / software / computer equipment and promptly resolve network connectivity problems on the local area network in Aswan and Cairo offices.
  • Assist with procurement of IT equipment in coordination with Admin & Finance Dept. and keep on hand adequate inventory of IT supplies.
  • Interact with computer users.
  • Manage IT assets including hardware, network and software.
  • Assist in IT budget preparation and follow-up on budget, the capital projects and operational expenses.
  • Maintain computer networks and databases including security and server back-up operations and execute systems backup and recovery, and other routine operations.
  • Provide IT support to AKF, Egypt as required.

IT Coordination

  • Oversee services and maintenance of IT related equipment, and configuration of networking equipment (such as routers, switches, … etc.).
  • Download latest antivirus updates and scan computer systems for viruses on a regular basis.
  • Assist users to effectively use computers, printers and scanners – logging onto the network, using email and operating Microsoft Office software.
  • Resolve any IT related problems as raised by the staff across the organization, and provide IT support for all the staff.
  • Ensure that all contingency plans and controls of the IT applications are operative and regularly updated.
  • Ensure that all installed programmes are operating smoothly across the Foundation through regular verification, checking and debugging to eliminate any accidents.
  • Ensure that backups are made according to OHF standards and procedures at the end of every working day to avoid any risk of loss, sabotage or destruction of data.
  • Train the staff on the proper use of the IT applications.
  • Installs new PCs and computer applications as needed.

System requirements analysis and implementation

  • Assist users in defining application requirements.
  • Assist in identifying and evaluating potential solutions.
  • Assist/lead the implementation of the application systems.
  • As appropriate, identify and engage external development resources.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related discipline.
  • At least three years of relevant experience.
  • Additional certification as an IT professional is an asset.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of various operating systems, Exchange Servers and IT networks is required.
  • Experience in Windows Network and file servers MSCE certificate is a preferable.
  • Excellent ability to document and trace network configuration and layout.
  • Professional in using desktop application, MS Office, emails and internet.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in both English & Arabic languages are essential.
