Role synopsis:

West Nile Delta (“WND”) Giza Fayoum & Raven Operations Site is the first solely BP operated site in Egypt. The Operations include operating offshore subsea gas / condensate facilities and onshore gas processing through multiple facilities; Giza , Fayoum and Raven.

This is a back-to-back rotational site HSE lead, based in Alexandria, Egypt. The position is reporting to the Area Operations HSE Team Leader, the site HSE Lead is accountable to provide day to day site HSE activities management and support to site Operations team to deliver safe, reliable and compliant operations of WND Giza Fayoum site.

The role will also working within the site HSE team to complete the HSE start up requirements ( Operations Readiness Plan ) for Raven Operations site (Green Field) in collaboration with the existing regional HSE team.

Key accountabilities:

  • Drive HSE requirements within site operations.
  • Provide HSE expertise and advice.
  • Assess the HSE performance of our operations through field inspections and self-verification.
  • Investigate incidents and near misses
  • Develop solutions to address any identified HSE issues.
  • Engage HSE specialists as required
  • Lead Site HSE self-verification plan implementation
  • Ensure the closure of the site HSE regulatory compliance tasks(CTM) .
  • Reviews HSE technicians competency progression and assessments
  • Supports final selection of HSE technicians
  • Input appropriate mitigation plans for “White ” risks and above.
  • Inputs Annual Site HSE plan
  • Provide HSE training as planned
  • Input to the HSE activities for inclusion in to site 12week & 8Q plan

Job Requirements

Essential Education:

Engineering or Science or technical background is a must with minimum of 8 years’ experience in HSE management.
Significant operations HSE related experience at oil & gas field is essential.
International/National NEBOSH diploma is a must

Essential experience and job requirements:

Manage HSE reporting, training and developing of regular HSE performance reports.

  • Review and provide HSE inputs into Operations HSE risk profile/registers to ensure that workplace/operational hazards are properly documented and controlled.

Site Operational support

  • Provide leadership of regulatory requirements, HSE management system and procedures
  • Participate in organizing emergency drills and collecting post-drill feedback and reporting to improve and verify effective emergency preparedness.
  • Intervenes on identified HSE issues & develop solutions to any identified HSE issues.
  • Provide feedback on the strength of operating discipline

Self-verification, investigations and assessment

  • Verify the strength of operational barriers to preventing major incidents.
  • challenge and escalate any under-reporting
  • Support incident investigations as required to determine root causes and development of Preventive / corrective actions and coordinate responses with Leadership.
  • Support internal & external incident investigation as required.
  • Conduct oversight of contractors’ activities
  • Undertake task level self-verification for HSE Compliance

HSE-related activities

  • Control of Work: attend Daily permit to work meetings to provide HSE inputs, participate in risk assessments, tool box talks and self-verification.
  • Lead HSE related campaigns and programs.Complete HSE compliance tasks owned by them and ensure on-time closure .

Other Requirements (e.g. Travel, Location):

Site based (work in rotation -2 weeks basis)

  • Willing to takes the lead, self motivated and high performer
  • Highly effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills with the ability to achieve results through appropriate influencing, motivation and delegation and to communicate with all levels of staff, regulators, contractors and suppliers.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to lead, work within and coach Teams and build relationships and networks.
  • Strong proficiency and a working knowledge of PC applications that is necessary to communicate to a diverse multi-disciplinary team.
  • Extended team members are often located in different groups, departments or locations; so strong teamwork, communication and cross-cultural skills are required.
  • The successful candidate will have excellent problem solving skills, project planning experience and the ability to work in a high activity environment with minimal supervision.
  • The candidate must have a strong HSSE commitment and willingness to be a proactive HSSE role model & leader.
