Job Description
Job Purpose:
Manage and oversee the daily operations of the Accounting Department through the supervision and evaluation of day-to-day accounting activities.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor and analyze accounting data and produce financial reports and statements.
- Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies, and principles.
- Coordinate and complete annual audits.
- Cash management (including placement/movement of funds in various accounts).
- Comply with legal and statutory regulations (handling of taxation e.g. income tax, VAT, etc).
- Provide recommendations.
- Improve accounting & operations systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions.
- Assign projects and direct staff to ensure compliance and accuracy.
- Meet financial accounting objectives.
- Establish and maintain fiscal files and records to document transactions.
- Analyze financial discrepancies and recommend effective resolutions.
- Review all Accountants’ tasks, provide guidance and support whenever needed.
- Review and recommend changes to the existing accounting procedures.
- Perform a full set of accounts and ensure timely closing of accounts.
- Meets accounting financial objectives by forecasting requirements, preparing an annual budget, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, initiating corrective actions.
- Confirms financial status by monitoring revenue and expenses, coordinating the collection, consolidation, and evaluation of financial data, preparing special reports.
- Maintains accounting controls by establishing a chart of accounts, defining accounting policies and procedures.
- Guides other departments by researching and interpreting accounting policy, applying observations and recommendations to operational issues.
- Maintains financial security by establishing internal controls.
- Avoids legal challenges by understanding current and proposed legislation, enforcing accounting regulations, recommending new procedures.
- Placing proper revenue targets and commission scheme for revenues generating departments within the company.
- Collaborate with the other departments’ managers to support overall department goals and objectives
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the direct manager.
Job Requirements
- Minimum 4 to 6 years’ experience in the same role or related field.
- Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or finance required.
- Excellent teamwork, organization and communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills and an eye for details.
- Advanced Excel skills, ability to work with lookups and pivot tables.
- Ability to manage parallel tasks simultaneously with quality yield.
- Self-motivated to learn new concepts and participate in new projects.
- Have a flare for numbers, work well with people, aggressively anticipate impacts of workload/issues to deadlines and have a very positive work attitude including willing to work some longer hours during peak periods.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong and proven Leadership skills.
