Job Description

  • Om Habibeh Foundation (OHF) is implementing a five-years skills development programme. It is an initiative in collaboration with Aga Khan Foundation, Egypt, Aga Khan Foundation, Canada, Aga Khan University (AKU), Global Affairs Canada and local partners in Aswan Governorate. Aswan Skills Development Project (ASDP) focuses on strengthening the quality and range of vocational and technical training programmes, as well as providing professional development trainings to young women and men in Aswan Governorate.
  • The ASDP aims to improve the knowledge and services provided to young women and men as they transition from education or under/unemployment into training and from training to work or entrepreneurship. ASDP is building a new model of technical vocational training, through national and international partners’ experience. In addition, ASDP is networking and creating partnerships with governmental bodies such as Ministry of Manpower (MoM) and Productivity Vocational Training Department (PVTD) in order to adopt the new model.

Position Objectives:

  • Under the overall guidance and direct supervision of Aga Khan University, School of Nursing and Midwifery (AKU-SONAM), the Nursing Officer shall manage and provide technical assistance for planning and implementation of Nursing Improvement Services and Educational Programmes in the Aswan Governorate.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and technical direction for planning and implementing of the Nursing Improvement Services and Educational Programmes
  • Coordinate, monitor and report on Aswan Nursing Clinical Education Development Plan that will be delivered in collaboration with Magdi Yacoub Heart Centre.
  • Build, maintain and strengthen relations with relevant partners and stakeholders (Aswan University Hospital, Faculty of Nursing and Ministry of Health and Population) who are involved with Nursing Improvement Services and Educational Programmes.
  • Engage with the government on effective policies to enhance the nursing profession in Egypt with a focus on Aswan.
  • Ensure timely analytical reporting to include analysis of progress of project activities, key issues and discrepancies, financial variations and anticipation of future problems.
  • Assist in identifying teaching/learning resources to strengthen the quality of nursing training provided by the Nursing Improvement Services and Educational Programmes.
  • Assist in developing plans for ongoing capacity building of nurses in Aswan. This could include: a leadership development programme (Ongoing nursing skills trainings); connecting and working with stakeholders such as Department of Health and Population, Hospital Directors, and Nursing Leaders; Organizing and preparing courses for participants, especially for developing their English language skills.
  • Perform other operational activities/initiatives as assigned by the direct supervisor.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing is required with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in nursing education.
  • Clear understanding of the nursing organizations/bodies and their functions.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to work in the field of nursing and health care.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to provide feedback and reporting to the management.
  • Well organized and proven attention to details.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work under pressure with multiple tasks, demands and deadlines with a positive and constructive attitude.
  • Strong sense of responsibility, professionalism and thoroughness.
  • Proven communication skills in English and Arabic languages (verbal and written).
  • Have good presentation skills.
  • Ability to work in flexible working hours.
