Job Description

Country Director, Egypt

Purpose of the Job

  • The Country Director will lead and manage the work of Coptic Orphans in Egypt in close coordination with HQ related divisions.
  • Be responsible for the day-to-day management of the organization and its resources efficiently and in accordance with management guidelines.
  • Liaise and engage with senior management at headquarters to ensure continuous alignment with CO strategy and change/transformation agenda.
  • Performs risk analysis, propose risk mitigation measure, and accordingly provide operations and strategic recommendations to management and the necessary actions to achieve CO objectives.
  • S/he will represent CO with local government and international organizations to ensure CO's image is preserved and enhanced.

Reporting line and Supervision responsibilities

  • Directly reporting to the Executive Director and with administrative supervision upon the country staff.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership for the dissemination of CO's values, vision, and mission at the country office level.
  • Keep abreast on socio-economic and political changes in the environment and undertake a timely review of areas that need improvement in the rapidly changing environment.
  • Develop and strengthen relationships with local organizations and networks and establish national strategic relations and alliances with partners and civil society working in common cause with CO objectives and ensure CO remains relevant to the changing needs of disadvantaged people in Egypt.
  • Coordinate the annual planning and budgeting as per organizational guidelines.
  • Ensure that adequate internal control mechanisms are in place.
  • Ensure the preparation, accuracy and timely submission of financial reports that comply with grant or contract agreements and ensure compliance with all aspects of CO policies and donor funding.
  • Check and verify all inventories and promote efficient management of the organization's assets.
  • Participates in regular meetings with the management team and all staff for the purpose of exchanging information, coordination, and learning.
  • Ensure the country management team is effective, mutually supporting and sufficiently involved in decision making, communication, and learning.
  • Ensure that experiences and best practices are documented and shared across the organization.
  • Other essential duties as required.

Job Requirements

Knowledge, Education, Experience and Skills:

  • Master's degree in management studies.
  • Minimum 15 years of demonstrated working experience in a non-profit environment; 5 of which should be at a senior level.
  • Progressive experience of Program Management with a proven track record as a senior manager and leader, including experience in implementing strategic plans.
  • Good knowledge of financial management, accounting, and budget holding principles.
  • Strong management and organizational skills, including comfort in delegating authority and responsibility.
  • Fluency in the English language.
  • Excellent communications skills, both oral and written.
  • Computer literate and proficient in MS Office suite.
  • Willingness and ability to travel locally and internationally.
