Job Description

At Uber, we ignite opportunity by setting the world in motion. We take on big problems to help drivers, riders, delivery partners, and eaters get moving in more than 600 cities around the world.

We welcome people from all backgrounds who seek the opportunity to help build a future where everyone and everything can move independently. If you have the curiosity, passion, and collaborative spirit, work with us, and let’s move the world forward, together.

About the Role

We are looking for an Operations Manager focused on launching and scaling UberBus across Middle East & Africa. This is a particularly challenging and rewarding role with huge opportunities but also lots of challenges in light of intense competition and complex market dynamics.

The Risk Operations Manager role is a unique opportunity to have a direct impact on your city through the growth and optimization of the driver population on Uber’s platform. This is a critical role within the org as you would play a key role in defining the overall Risk framework for UberBus across MEA, development and execution of processes to address trending quality infractions in each market, ensure Uber’s operations within the region are compliant with all external and internal regulations and standards and own safety for our Bus product across the region. You will be leading Risk for Uber’s top priority product and biggest Bold Bets for 2019, primarily focusing on HCV.

What You'll Do:

  • Compliance Management. Monitor compliance levels across the business and intervene when necessary to achieve 100% compliance, working with country leads, EMEA central team, CommOps and other stakeholders to set plans to rectify areas of non-compliance and oversee implementation of these plans
  • Quality Management. Develop and optimize quality strike-based processes included in the overall Quality Framework - such as EMEA Quality process, Quality & Safety Infraction Process, or similar
  • Own Safety. Own driver and safety safety across the Low Cost product portfolio. Work with key stakeholders including MENA marketing and central ops teams, country leads, EMEA central safety team, CommOps, IRT, Product, Engineering, Comms, Policy and Legal to make Uber safer for our drivers and riders
  • Safety Products. Work with stakeholders to proactively identify products and processes that will better support Safety KPIs. Advocate for testing and adoption of global safety products not currently in our markets
  • Fraud Management. Monitor, action and create Fraud processes and serve as the region’s Fraud Low Cost POC and escalate cases as necessary to the central team. Own local Fraud processes such as begin-end process, J&S/incentive gaming or similar

Job Requirements

What You'll Need:

  • Startup/all-hands-on-deck approach.
  • Minimum 3 years of finance / business analytics / consulting / applied economics or related experience;
  • Data driven decision making mentality and sound business judgment through strong analytical thinking and experimentation
  • Demonstrated leadership of leading initiatives and projects at your organization.
  • Strong project management skills
  • Ability to take initiative and prioritize in a constantly-changing work environment
  • Stellar Excel and SQL knowledge and a passion for data needed
  • Python, R or any other scripting language is a plus
  • Direct experience in a similar role is a plus
