Job Description

The Safety Manager main responsibilities are to establish the Safety Management System, and deploy it through the company and consortium partners, and to monitor Safety conformance through the Procurement Delivery, Installation, Testing & Commissioning and handover stages. The Safety Manager has the experience to propose a practical system in the simplest possible way yet following international Safety standards (OSHA or equivalent) that he will gradually insufflate within the company.

The position covers in particular:

  • Establish the Safety Management System (plan and procedures) and supporting documentation (procedures, templates, instructions, etc.), and establish tools, when needed
  • Propose a practical system in the simplest possible way yet following International Safety principles
  • Deploy the system through the company (including training) and ensure that consortium partners do the same
  • Permanently develop Safety Culture and good practice inside Colas Rail Egypt
  • Monitor from Design to Handover conformance of the activities with the requirements processes in place
  • Ensure the day to day support to the teams on Safety processes and organizational issues and lessons learned
  • Develop, implement and maintain tools (eg. indicator) to monitor and report Safety performance on a weekly and monthly basis, analysis results and propose areas for improvement and take necessary actions to adapt the System;
  • Manage/Monitor and review Non Conformance Reports for Colas Rail and the consortium partners and remedial actions (and their associated corrective / preventive actions); assist in their preparation and processing as required
  • Organize/Participate to Safety inspections and audits (internal, partners or contractors)
  • Monitor and review Method Statements and Inspection & Test Plans with respect to Safety requirements
  • Check Field Changes Requests with respect to Safety requirements
  • Monitor and review project closeout documentation including Safety Record Submissions;
  • Assist when required in arranging inspections and testing by Project and external Parties

Job Requirements

  • Master degree or equivalent.
  • Candidate must have at least 10 years work experience with evidence of positive leadership on similar large project
  • Broad technical knowledge of Mechanical and Electrical systems and of Civil Works interface
  • Experienced in making simple HSE processes, procedures, deploying and managing them and seek improvement
  • Experience with smoothly deploying and effectively a HSE awareness within the company
  • Deep experience international regulations/standards on Safety Management (OSHA or equivalent)
  • English proficiency is mandatory (reading/writing/speaking) – French is a plus
