Job Description

  • To lead the development, implementation, and review of the School’s quality assurance systems and processes for taught courses and research degrees.
  • To work collaboratively and authoritatively with academic staff in the School's QAE activities, including the provision of training and guidance.

The range of responsibilities and duties of this role will include the following, although priorities may change in line with the development of the role and other duties may be allocated from time to time.

Job Requirements

Knowledge and Experience (Expertise)

  • A good Honours degree (or equivalent) and substantial proven relevant experience in a higher education context.
  • A higher degree, MA or Ph.D. (or equivalent).
  • Experience of working in higher education institutions or Schools is a must.
  • Significant experience of working in the field of Academic Quality Assurance and Enhancement, including experience of Quality Audit.
  • Highly literate and articulate.
  • Experience in producing and interpreting high-level management information.
  • Experience in reviewing processes and systems and finding practical solutions to problems.
  • Experience of working at a strategic and policy level.

Liaison and Networking

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective formal and informal networks.
  • Ability to chair/lead internal networks and working groups.
  • Ability to communicate in a diplomatic and tactful manner with a wide variety of people.

Planning & Organising

  • Proven experience in budget management and control.
  • Ability to self-organize and supervise the work of other staff.

Information Review, Analysis, and Scholarship

  • Highly developed research skills.
  • The ability to collate, monitor and assess data to present in precise bespoke management reports.

  • Communication
