Communication Manager

The key purpose of the communication manager role is to develop and deliver key communications priorities

across internal and external in order to deliver business focussed communications supporting commercial and

reputational objectives and providing governance and advice in line with the strategic needs of the business.

Major Accountabilities

  • To establish and build the communication function in AZ based on strong expertise and background in an effective and business impactful way.
  • Leads and drives communication activities at external, internal, and brand level against set business priorities.
  • Drive best practice and simplification of channel usage to drive effective communication messaging
  • Manage where appropriate external stakeholders in connection with the brand campaigns/activities e.g. media, patient groups etc to drive positive reputation of AstraZeneca
  • Contributes proactively to shape internal, brand and external communication activities to deliver business outcomes.
  • Builds a culture of active business partnering through engagement with stakeholders to deliver effective communications
  • Drive an environment of innovation within channel use to drive engagement
  • Provide strategic counsel where appropriate to senior management team
  • Preparation of relevant materials by self or third parties in line with codes of conduct and compliance frameworks
  • Input where appropriate into compliance approval processes
  • Managing all internal and external events for AstraZeneca
  • Manage and promote CSR activities, encouraging employee volunteerism during CSR activities.
  • Ensuring the right communication of our AZ culture and values internally and externally
  • Maximize the different communication channels for a higher reach and to ensure the right messages are well-delivered
  • Define the internal communication strategy, channels and vehicles to ensure mobilization towards Business objectives and enhance pride to work for AstraZeneca.

Job Requirements

SKILLS AND CAPABILITIES NEEDED

Essential Skills and experience required:

  • Proven experience in leadership communications and strategic communications (corporate or / and brand).
  • At least 8 years of experience in corporate communications, event management, public and media relations.
  • Ability to utilise channels for business benefit within resource limits
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritise accordingly.
  • Ability to motivate and lead a multi-disciplinary, multi-faceted business

Desirable Experience :

  • Experience in the pharmaceutical / healthcare communications preferred
  • Experience in social media or digital promotion would be an added advantage
  • PR agency experience is a plus
