Job Description

General Description

  • To complete a range of airport mechanical activities in integration with the Airport Infrastructure Services Team.
  • This includes but is not restricted to design, project management, , operation ,co-ordination and supervision of airports’ systems general repairs, minor new works and major development projects.
  • The location and layout of airports will require the selected candidate to work on a diverse range of projects with a range of mechanical disciplines and systems; high voltage distribution, heating ventilation and air conditioning systems, belt systems, electric elevators and stairs, fuel storage, control systems, energy distribution, energy supply (gas, electricity, solar, wind, geothermal and biomass) lighting (high mast, street, interior), and fire detection and protection alarm systems.
  • Applicants should be strong team players and willing to support a program of continuous improvement.
  • The ideal candidate will have prior experience of working within an airport mechanical engineering team or similar projects / environment within a consultancy or for a contractor,
  • Applicants should have the ability to undertake designs in accordance with ICAO standards , the related CAA regulations and mechanical safety regulations.
  • They should be experienced in working with contractors and HV electrical working practices.

Airport Mechanical Engineer Responsibilities

  • Airport Mechanical Engineer role is successfully delivered through Carrying out Daily Routines/Tasks thoroughly and consistently) In the meantime he should Conduct his duties on a Daily Basis in a positive manner , cooperative attitude and behavior towards managers colleagues subordinates and customers.
  • The list below describes most of the typical routines that airport mechanical Engineer will be expected to undertake in an environment of operation , problem solving scenarios and continuous improvement environment :
  • Undertaking technical and feasibility studies and site investigations;
  • Developing innovative solutions, resolving design and development problems;
  • Assessing the potential risks of specific projects following Safety Management System as well as undertaking risk management in specialist roles;
  • Developing a project electrical specifications, often integrating with those from other engineering disciplines;
  • Assist with tendering process – In conjunction with the Procurement Manager and Consultants prepare documentation, obtain competitive/negotiated tenders, and recommend appointments for external consultants and contractors to be engaged by the Company for works projects;
  • Follow and supervise the safe and efficient operation , maintenance and replacement of all airport ( land side and air sides ) mechanical systems and equipment.
  • Participate in the procedures of airport certification in the area of airport electrical systems , tools and regulations,
  • Managing, supervising and visit contractors on site and advise on mechanical issues;
  • Communicate and liaise effectively with colleagues, contractors, consultants;
  • Think both creatively and logically to resolve design and development problems;
  • Manage budgets and other project resources in coordination with other project engineering disciplines;
  • Review and approve project drawings and documentation and compile reports;;
  • Adopt all relevant requirements around issues such as building permits, mechanical and environmental regulations and safe working practices;
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory and audit requirements pertaining to all works projects e.g. planning and building warrant applications, Regulations,
  • In conjunction with the Head of airport engineering manager , assist in the
  • development of the company capital expenditure plan and the annual revenue budget for repairs and maintenance related to Mechanical areas; as well as to assist in the development of the Mechanical Term maintenance contracts for annual airport maintenance and quality inspections;
  • Contract administration - Manage t the Mechanics Term Maintenance Contract to ensure it is followed;
  • Consult with and provide support to Head Office, regional and airport managers on all Mechanical aspects of Infrastructure Services involving repairs and maintenance, minor new works and major development projects, feasibility studies, etc;
  • Ensure that a project runs smoothly and that the works are completed on time and within the specs and budget;
  • Correcting any project deficiencies that affect production, quality and safety requirements before final evaluation and project reviews;
  • Monitoring and undertaking of personal On-the-Job training requirements and On-the- Job training of Deputy;
  • Preparation of project relevant orders and invoices.

Job Requirements

Qualifications Required

  • B.S. in mechanical engineering.
  • Minimal experience is required in a branch of Engineering directly related to airport mechanical engineering discipline;
  • No experience required with a Master degree.
  • Preferable to having training in the Airport Elecro-Mechanic area
  • Competent in IT (Microsoft office), good standard of oral and written presentation;
  • Have a good grasp of written and verbal English
