Job Description

The financial controller position is accountable for the accounting operations of the company, including the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with International Financial Reporting Standards and other regulations.

  • Oversee the daily operations of the accounting and reporting department.
  • Oversee the daily, monthly, quarterly and annual reporting accuracy and timely delivery.
  • Oversee the establishment and maintenance of fiscal files and records to document transactions.
  • Oversee and manage the monthly and annual closing processes.
  • Oversee the periodic and annual inventory counts.
  • Oversee and manage the process of preparing the statutory financial statements, ensuring the integrity of the balance sheet of the company.
  • Manage the tax strategy of the company, and the payment of due taxes in a timely manner.
  • Oversee the monthly and annual tax reporting accuracy and timely delivery.
  • Coordinate and manage the annual independent audit process.
  • Oversee and manage the internal audit process.
  • Oversee the process of monitoring internal controls.
  • Develop systems, policies and procedures for the accounting and reporting department.
  • Manage the preparation and control of capital and operation budgets, and ensure accurate and timely reporting of actual versus budget amounts.
  • Improve accounting and reporting systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions.
  • Assign projects and tasks to direct staff.
  • Coordinate and manage the process of annual report production.
  • Ensure compliance with all the statutory and regulatory requirements of the company.
  • Give finance approvals on purchases and contracts where applicable, according to approved bylaws, plans and established approval matrices.
  • Provide support to the operations of regional and local accounting and reporting departments, especially at the setup phase.
  • Mentor and coach direct reports on technical and soft skills.
  • Take part in setting and monitoring the overall objectives of the total finance department, working closely with other finance head to ensure the achievement of the same.
  • Set and monitor the overall objectives of the accounting and reporting department in light of the overall objectives of the total finance department.
  • Set and monitor the overall HR KPI assessments of the staff of the accounting and reporting department in light of the department’s targets.
  • Participate as a member of the procurement/contracting committees.
  • Join various strategic and operational meetings to support the decision-making process.
  • Give advice to non-finance departments within the company.
  • Assist the CFO and the CEO with financial reporting as required at Board meetings and the Annual General Meetings and provide advice to support the decision making process.

Job Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance is a must.
  • Higher education in accounting, finance or business is a plus.
  • Continuing training in soft skills is appreciated.
  • Deep knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Mastery of accounting theories and standard/best practices.
  • Broad knowledge in other areas of finance, such as analysis, costing or treasury.
  • Broad understanding of the business and operations of the company/sector served.
  • Work experience of no less than 10 years.
  • People management experience of no less than 5 years.
  • Common courtesy, tact, and effectiveness in dealing with others to meet their needs.
  • Clear communications skills to effectively give and receive information.
  • High inductive and reasoning skills.
  • High analytical and interpretational skills.
  • Ability to develop policies and procedures according to given strategies, goals and objectives.
