Zalando Technology is the base of our e-commerce platform. We’ve developed most of that base in-house: the shop, internal systems and our logistics software. We work in short cycles in order to adapt our software continuously to our processes.
We mainly use open source solutions when it comes to development and system operation and work in small, agile teams. The technology department comprises the teams of feature and platform engineering, product management, quality assurance and business intelligence. Every team is central to the perfect shopping experience which millions of customers have at Zalando.
QUALITY ASSURANCE DEPARTMENT
- Working in agile development teams, our Quality Assurance Engineers collaborate closely with our developers, testers and product managers.
- Through a series of automatic system tests and upgrading of the continuous integration infrastructure, they improve the automation of software development in their teams.
- Our Quality Assurance Engineers are also active in software development.
- They have developed some of the tools that make day-to-day work at Zalando that little bit easier and they are constantly coming up with more ideas.
- Our Quality Assurance Engineers work full-time and are based in Berlin.
WHAT YOU ARE GOING TO DO
- As a Quality Assurance Engineer you will be responsible for a small team as well as the conception and implementation of automatic system, performance and security tests
- Depending on the field of application, you will be working as part of an agile team on developing cross browser tests, with usability constantly at the back of your mind
- As an experienced Quality Assurance Engineer you will be working on the development of our test framework
- You will be responsible for evaluating and developing new technology and tools Adapting and upgrading open source tools for Zalando’s own needs will be one of your main tasks
- You will be working with a specialist team of product managers and software developers on new and innovative features
- You will use your experience in internet security and quality assurance in your day-to-day work
Job Requirements
- You have an above average degree in IT or a similar subject
- You have at least five years experience in test automation or software development
- You are a confident user of Java and Linux
- You have experience with the latest test tools such as Jenkins, JIRA, Sonar, Testlink, Cucumber, Selenium (Webdriver)
- You have worked with object-relational and relational database management systems (e.g. MySQL, PostgreSQL) before
- You will ideally have experience of SOAP web services and REST-API and related technology
- You love taking part in analytical projects, you feel responsible for the quality of your work and you support your team members in what they do
- You have no problems communicating in either English or German
