Job Description

  • Sets the strategy for Legal functions in alignment with the company’s overall strategic directions and corporate objectives.
  • Cascades the strategic objectives to the Legal team and collaboratively develops the department’s budget with his direct reports and obtains CEO final approval prior to implementation.
  • Monitors and follows up on the strategic initiatives assigned to the Legal team, eliminating any obstacles to performance to achieve the set objectives.
  • Drafts confidential and/or high-risk contracts, legal drafts, correspondences to authorities etc. and reviews and approves all legal documents issued by his/her team ensuring compliance to the stipulated laws.
  • Provides legal consultation and advice on manners related to; corporate law, commercial law, contracts (tenants, residents, suppliers & service providers), land registrations, property related laws etc. resolving all manners in a timely and effective manner, avoiding any legal liability on the company. Refers to third party legal firms, when needed, ensuring the delivery of the required service as per the subject legal case.
  • Identifies and develops in collaboration with his team, all types of legal contracts’ templates needed for the business, such as; tenants, residents, contracts, service providers, suppliers etc. ensuring contracts’ terms protect the best interest of the company at all times.
  • Approves any changes needed to the contracts’ templates prior to use by any stakeholder.
  • Reviews and approves draft agreements received from third parties and provide feedback from legal point to view prior to signature, to protect the company’s rights.
  • Ensures the proper handling of all legal procedures and actions, filed by or against Spectrum Developments, liaising with the external legal firms, when needed, reviewing all the memoranda issued by them and providing feedback ensuring the protection of the company from any legal liability at all times.
  • Represents the company in arbitration and hearings.
  • Involves in the negotiations of commercial deals with the concerned Department Head, ensuring all prepared legal documents by (own or outsourced legal teams) needed for the subject deal (e.g. NDAs, SPAs, MOUs, JV Agreements, etc.), are accurately drafted, compiled and compliant to the stipulated laws and match business requirements.
  • Presents periodical reports to the CEO on the activities of the Legal department including aspects such as yet not limited to; number of cases at hand, status and criticality of each case, budget requirements (if any) etc. highlighting challenges and risks causing or may cause legal liabilities on the company along with recommended legal actions to overcome them.
  • Conducts performance appraisal sessions with the immediate subordinates and ensures that the performance evaluation process is carried out on time and in an efficient and objective manner and ensures the development plans of his department staff is implemented timely.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law. Post graduate business degree is preferred.
  • Minimum 15 years relevant and similar capacity in relevant field.
  • Requires well-rounded knowledge of the Real Estate sector.
  • Skills: Fluent in Arabic and English Languages
