Job Description
- Maintains an environment which will develop within each child a feeling of self-acceptance and self-esteem.
- Provides stimulating materials and guidance in their use of materials which will enable each child to realize his/her full potential.
- Helps the child to accept the limits of life in a democratic society.
- Extends early home experiences in an environment planned through living and learning with peers.
- Teaches basic skills such as color, shape, number and letter recognition, personal hygiene, and social skills.
- Teaches proper eating habits and table manners.
- Observes and evaluates children's performance, behavior, social development, and physical health through assessments regularly.
- Organizes and lead activities designed to promote physical, mental and social development, such as games, arts and crafts, music, storytelling, and field trips.
- Establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate those objectives to children.
- Establishes and enforces rules for behavior, and procedures for maintaining order.
- Prepares materials and classrooms for class activities.
- Provides a variety of materials and resources for children to explore, manipulates and uses both in learning activities and in imaginative play.
- Arranges indoor and outdoor space to facilitate creative play, motor-skill activities, and safety.
- Attends staff meetings.
- Attends professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training, workshops to maintain and improve professional competence.
- Adapts teaching methods and instructional materials to meet children's varying needs and interests.
- Enforces all administration policies and rules governing children.
- Meets with parents and guardians to discuss their children's progress and needs, determine their priorities for their children, and suggest ways that they can promote learning and development.
- Confers with other staff members to plan and schedule lessons promoting learning, following approved curricula.
- Identifies children showing signs of emotional, developmental, or health-related problems, and discuss them with supervisors, parents or guardians, and child development specialists.
