Job Description

- As a Senior Construction Accountant, you will get the chance to take ownership of and apply principles of accounting to record and analyze financial information, including managing job cost attributes in our ERP, responding to customer issues, resolving problems, and providing/reviewing financial statement disclosures related to our company’s construction activities.

Main Job Duties:
- Manage ERP system attributes used to control daily and monthly reports
- Develop, implement, and maintain construction management system, including setting up projects (jobs), budgets, job costs, cost codes, contracts, change orders, purchase orders, and various construction progress reports.
- Review and analyze capitalization of costs. Ensure compliance with policy.
- Manage process for proper coding of construction invoices (payment applications) and lien releases for contractor and vendor invoices. Maintain contract documents including records of lien releases in appropriate files.
- Analyze and review construction status with Project/Construction Managers. Direct and participate in cost analyses.
- Prepare/gather materials related to construction and cost accounting matters for internal and external auditors.
- Coordinate/interface with cost accounting system software provider.
Job Requirements
- BS degree in accounting degree and a minimum of 5 years construction/job cost accounting experience
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret relevant corporate policies management agreements, customer service contracts, and general contracts for terms.
- Ability to read and interpret construction contracts, lien releases, and other pertinent construction documents.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries and/or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, members of the business community, peer professionals, and management.
- Knowledge of construction cost accounting and general accounting.
- Ability to analyze and interpret accounting data and perform quantitative analyses.
- Appropriate skills with MS Office, specifically the ability to structure and apply Microsoft Excel solutions that require look up features as well as charts and graphs.
