Job Description

A Swimming teacher at MCE is responsible for the performance of the Malvern College Egypt Swimming programme. As such, he/she will have first-line responsibility for the following:

  • A clear vision for MCE swimming lessons and sporting competitions
  • The quality of the swim programme, ensuring lessons during school time and coaching sessions outside of school are of the highest quality
  • The measurable progress of individual swimmers and the swim programme as a whole is liaised to the swimming Coordinator
  • Ensuring positive working relationships with parents, with clear and effective communication
  • The management of parent relations, in collaboration with school pastoral staff (Classroom Teacher/Form Tutor/Head of Year and/or Assistant Head)
  • The full and effective integration of the swimming programme into the wider life of the school
  • Regularly meet with the Swimming coordinator and/or Director of Sport, feeding back results/student progress/future events/suggestions of improvements that need to be made

The role:

We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, motivated and passionate about swimming as well as being passionate about Malvern College Egypt competing at the highest level. We are looking for someone who is proactive and able to lead swimming lessons across the school onto both academic and sporting excellence.

This is in line with the Malvern College Egypt swimming programme aims, which are:

  • Develop the most successful swimming programme in Cairo
  • Ensure an outstanding coaching regime is formed and maintained
  • Take a balanced long-term view on individuals’ swimming development and ensure that the unique welfare requirements of our performance athletes are met
  • Maintain first-class facilities, including both the large and small pool, including the monitoring of the pool temperature on a daily basis
  • Ensure a holistic and well-balanced education for all our swimmers
  • Ensure the swimming programme brings benefit even to those pupils who do not take part in it, providing a permanent reminder of the time and effort it takes to achieve excellence
  • Ensure all swimming classes and coaching sessions have recorded registers where swimming uniform is checked and sanctioned accordingly
  • All swimming equipment/facilities are stored in the correct place and the facilities are regularly cleaned
  • Lead continued professional development (CPD) for all PE staff to ensure staff’s swimming knowledge is up to date

Job Requirements

  • Excellent command English Language
  • 1-4 years relevant experience
  • Presentable
