Job Description
- Manage and coordinate the realization of engineering issues such as feasibility studies, design of (alternative) solutions in favor of tenders and during project execution.
- Respond qualitative and timely to engineering questions/assignments related to tender and projects.
- Ensure development of cost efficient (alternative) designs and solutions.
- Stay up to date with respect to knowledge (e.g. trough literature studies, seminars etc) and ensure knowledge management in order to improve engineering capabilities within NMDC.
- Advise on allocation of work to sub-contractors/ consultants
- Liaise and manage design sub-consultant to the best interest of the Client and NMDC
- Manage the ground improvement and geotechnical section
- Manage the sand search and survey operation for potential sand borrow area
- Manage and develop a data base and soil model with all available data
- Make well informed decisions for the project that are in best interest of the client and NMDC.
- Execution of the yearly performance management cycle for Design engineer, Methods engineer, projects engineer, etc.
- Develop on a yearly basis business improvement approach and goals in close collaboration with Commercial Director.
- Recommend Commercial Director on business improvement opportunities accompanying benefits and approach in cooperation and consultation with operations Excellence analyst.
- Review design documents and support the project team in engineering matters
- Advise other departments or Commercial Director on engineering matters if required.
- Ensure knowledge management in order to improve knowledge and best practices within NMDC
- Ensure that all required advises and reports for other departments are timely provided
- Provide leadership and guidance towards employees of Engineering Department.
- Pro-actively communicate with Commercial Director and his subordinates (e.g., Tender manager, design engineer etc.) on engineering aspects
- Pro-actively communicate with other department heads regarding process improvement opportunities/ activities
- Risk Management: identify and evaluate major risks opportunities within Engineering Dept.
- This is a generalist view of a Job that you have been assigned for – at times you may be requested to do above/beyond the scope of this role due to Operational requirements.
Job Requirements
- Degree in Technical or Engineering Field or equivalent
- Relevant certification is an advantage
- Experience in the design and engineering related to dredging and marine construction works
Verbal Communication/ Language Skills
- Required: English
- Preferred: Arabic
- Any other language is an asset.
Written Communication Skills
- Required: English
- Preferred: Arabic
- Any other language is an asset.
