Job Description

  • Monitors and analyzes department gross margin and price variance information, and generates required reports (daily, weekly, period, and yearly) to provide accurate records of relevant costs on an ongoing basis. (15%)
  • Compiles, monitors and analyzes cost changes and related reports (gross margin, quarterly pricing, pricing schedules, cost savings projects) in products, raw materials, overhead, manufacturing, and wages to facilitate pricing decisions. (15%)
  • Maintains logs and records including pre-paid expenses, depreciation on fixed assets and amortization for insurance reports. Prepares all reports to ensure compliance with GAAP and to meet management and customer needs. (10%)
  • Assists with the budget process, collaborating with operations to establish overhead expense targets, labor standards, yield standards, and usage standards; and verifying that expenses and standards are reconciled and followed during each period, and for the year. (10%)
  • Provides costing information for new products. Responsible to maintain current and accurate information related to costing. (10%)
  • Checks physical inventory counts against system reports (period and year end) to ensure accurate data for meeting department and company goals. (5%)
  • Audits general ledger accounts to assist the Finance Director with period closings. (5%)
  • Monitors and analyzes production and inventory reports, and department financial accounts, making required period end entries to ensure accuracy and cost effectiveness, in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles. (5%)
  • Collaborates with operations departments to ensure continuity, clarify financial information and performance, and to facilitate financial analysis. (5%)
  • Prepares costing sheets for imported products, calculating all costs accrued with shipment and distributes this information to all relevant departments. (5%)
  • Provides training and assistance to employees and collaborates as needed with the Information Systems Manager to implement systems updates. (5%)
  • Communicates with customers regarding account status and follows up on inquiries to maintain strong customer relations. (5%)
  • Provides assistance and backup for Accountants. (5%)
  • Performs other related and assigned duties as necessary.

Job Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education and experience equivalent to:

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in commerce or accounting from an accredited college or university.

Experience:

  • 2-4 years experience in general accounting and cost accounting functions. Experience in a manufacturing setting a plus.
