Job Description

Role synopsis

BP has a long and successful track record in Egypt stretching back 50 years. In Egypt our business is primarily in exploration and production. BP currently produces almost 15% of Egypt’s entire oil production and close to 30% of Egypt’s gas production with its partners. BP is working to meet Egypt’s domestic market growth by actively exploring in the Nile Delta and investing to add production from existing discoveries.

This position will be a member of Egypt Finance Team - Accounting, Reporting & Control to run and execute Accounts payable multiple processes ensuring compliance with BP Accounting and Reporting requirements.

The incumbent in this role will

  • Deliver proper, accurate, and compliant accounting records.
  • Apply routine and non-routine accounting policies.
  • Manage Full Accounts payable cycle.

Key accountabilities

  • Manage the full accounts payable cycle from receipt of invoices to payment; including coding invoices, matching purchase orders, obtaining approval, and entering the invoices into the accounting system.
  • Handle all the Intercompany accounting activities.
  • Ensure compliance with BSI process and highlighting any unsporting balances for resolution.
  • Process employee expense reports, including verification of receipts and coding.
  • Ensure all accounts payable policies and procedures are complied with.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders at relevant levels.
  • Responsible for monthly accounts payable journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Assist team with gathering support for all audits, including pulling documentation.
  • Investigate and resolve problems associated with processing of invoices and purchase orders.
  • Monitor open and overdue items and follow up accordingly with appropriate stakeholders.
  • Prepare ad hoc reports as needed

Job Requirements

Essential Education

Qualified Accountant (ACCA, ACA, CA, CPA, CIMA) or equivalent

Essential experience and job requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria and qualifications:

  • 6 years of experience in the Oil & Gas industry.
  • Good understanding/knowledge of accounts payable process.
  • Excellent understanding of key financial systems.
  • Excellent understanding of key control process and BP Requirements in relation to the financial management system.
  • Excellent business awareness and understanding of business arrangements.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of production sharing agreements and reserves.
  • Ability to manage multiple/conflicting priorities.
  • Ability to transform into Agile work methodologies.
