Purpose of position

Responsible for the strategic planning, development and implementation of integrated external and internal communication and public affairs strategies that engage and influence stakeholders; protect and enhance the reputation of Janssen and Johnson & Johnson in Egypt, Jordan, Libya and Sudan (NAF); and support the growth objectives of Janssen in NAF.

RESPONSIBILITIES/PRINCIPAL DUTIES (Essential Functions)

Guide decisions to drive business growth, and develop and enhance our reputation in NAF

  • Model and inspire integration of knowledge from deep internal and external networks; multi-stakeholder insights; and broad understanding of business, competitive and industry priorities in development and implementation of strategic communication plans that drive key business and reputation outcomes and shape the environment for the company’s medicines and solutions
  • Develop and strengthen relationships with and serve as trusted communication advisor to business leaders; coach leaders to develop their ability to engage and inspire their organizations and shape the external environment

Drive Enterprise and OpCo growth, and build stakeholder trust/advocacy by developing and implementing proactive communication and public affairs initiatives

  • Develop and implement Communication and Public Affairs strategies to strengthen the corporate image and reputation of Janssen as a thought leader, breakthrough innovator, and a trusted partner for the healthcare system; influence and frame industry agenda
  • Maintain deep understanding of current issues in the environment affecting Janssen and its brands; develop public affairs strategies that inform and shape belief, action, behavior and advocacy to shape the external environment; position Janssen on the relevant specific policy issues
  • Proactively engage, inform and influence key external stakeholders re: issues important to Janssen and its constituents; develop relationships with key external stakeholders, including major trade associations; support Government Affairs / External Affairs / Market access priority areas
  • Assess opportunities and organize proactive participation of company leadership in key events and forums; manage leadership communications, external visibility, and media presence, including media trainings, speech preparation, etc.

Job Requirements

Education/experience

  • Education: B.Sc. of PR & Communication or a relevant education
  • Language: Fluent in both Arabic & English written and verbal

Experience and functional competencies:

  • Pharmaceutical Experience is required
  • Proven performer with 6+ years of experience managing communication in a company, NGO, government agency or public relations agency; proven track record of successful public relations/communications, corporate communication, product communication, public affairs, and/or media relations achievements
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire, coach and develop high-performing teams in a matrixed organization
  • Demonstrated ability to build deep, authentic relationships and strong influence with senior internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to develop successful partnerships with business leaders
  • Experience in crisis/issues management
  • Experience dealing with national and local lay, professional/trade and social media
  • Understanding of digital and social platforms
  • Strategic thinking and analytical ability
  • Experience in managing budgets and resource allocation across large critical projects
  • Exercise a high level of independent judgment even in challenging, complex situations
  • High level of understanding of the Turkish political and economic landscape, decision-making process and procedures.
