Job Description

Post Overview:

The English Language Instructor position is responsible for teaching the English Access Micorscholarship program in the following city:Kharga - New Valley

The program comes with a two- year commitment starting February 2019 through December 2021 on a part – time basis.

Teaching load is 6 to 9 hours per week in three- hour sessions.

Apart from teaching hours, instructors are expected to prepare lessons, exams and attend instructor meetings.

Program Overview:

The English Access Microscholarship Program is sponsored by the US Department of State, US Embassy, Regional English Language Office. The program provides a foundation of English language skills to talented 14- to 16 year-olds from disadvantaged populations in Egypt through after-school classes and intensive summer learning activities. The program also gives participants the opportunity to gain an appreciation for American culture and democratic values, increases their ability to participate successfully in the socio-economic development of their countries, and improve their chances of participating in U.S. educational and exchange programs. The program promotes tolerance and the acceptance of cultural differences.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

Tasks and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Planning, preparing and delivering instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences
  • Establishing and communicating clear objectives for all learning activities
  • Providing a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities
  • Identifying and selecting different instructional resources and methods to meet students' varying needs
  • Using relevant technology to support instruction
  • Preparing tests, activities and other supplementary material, including audio and visual resources
  • Assigning and grading classwork, homework, tests and assignments
  • Encouraging and monitoring on the progress of individual students
  • Providing appropriate feedback and formally reporting on students’ progress
  • Maintaining accurate and complete records of students' progress and development
  • Managing student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures
  • Participating in the program’s teacher training workshops and US Embassy events as requited
  • Accompany students to summer camps and field trips out of the city

Job Requirements

Qualifications Required:

  • English language teaching certification or certified training
  • Relevant University degree
  • Minimum 3 years teaching experience
