Based out of our Dubai office for Asia, Middle East and North Africa, your role will support AMENA in all aspects of Technical Accounting compliance in line with US GAAP and PepsiCo Policy. The role is focused on working with the M&A & CAPEX/ business teams to advise on the Accounting and Control implications of various M&A structures & CAPEX investments/ approvals in AMENA. This involves heavy collaboration with the Corporate Technical Accounting team in NY and KPMG.

This role also entails advising on various other Technical Accounting issues which arise across AMENA including impairment, intangibles, equity accounting, marketplace spending, PPE, and restructuring etc. This role also involves reviewing and updating the Accounting section of various proposals prior to seeking approval (incl. CARs, SCARs, Negotiating Authorities) and aligning Corporate Control on the proposed treatment.

This role also focuses on maintaining and updating existing Policies in AMENA such as the T&E and Telecoms Policies. This position also exists to provide training and ongoing support to control associates across the Sector.

Key accountabilities for the role include:

Technical Support

  • Required to be a U.S. GAAP subject matter expert
  • Provide accounting guidance and advice to Regions, CUs and Sector functions on statutory or U.S. GAAP accounting implications for all transactions (e.g. acquisitions, divestitures, leases, impairment, equity accounting and non-recurring transactions etc.)
  • Engage with the Corporate Technical Accounting team and KPMG to align and resolve Accounting related issues
  • Coordinate ad-hoc business analysis and co-ordinate Policy changes (revenue recognition, leases, etc)
  • Assist in monitoring, communicating and implementing new accounting requirements and standards
  • Support Corporate Accounting in compiling the annual Audit Committee deck on Critical Accounting Policies and obtaining required information from the Regions
  • PepsiCo accounting policies
  1. Assist in ensuring a harmonized implementation of policies
  2. Maintain AMENA Schedule of Authority (SOA)
  3. Survey best practices
  • Communicate changes and monitor implementation


Financial Reporting and Control

  • Aid in interpreting the Corporate and AMENA Schedule of Authority (SOA)
  • Provide guidance on Accounting and Control issues in line with PepsiCo Policy including PPE, impairment, JV Governance, Marketplace Spending, Restructuring, Volume Reporting etc.
  • Provide Accounting advice on proposals and update and align Corporate on all proposals
  • Conduct the asset impairment exercise for the AMENA Sector
  • Conduct the JV Governance exercise for the AMENA Sector
  • Collect approval on JV Governance approvals
  • Prepare M&A/impairment/JV Governance slides as necessary for pre & post close calls and align VP & Assistant Controller prior to the call with Corporate
  • Update the representation letter with any M&A updates as appropriate
  • Update the Reporting team on any M&A deals and ensure correct booking in HFM
  • Provide advice on any financial reporting issues (COCC, Policy classifications, SAB 108 etc.)


Capability Building

  • Design and deliver appropriate U.S. GAAP capability building initiatives across the Sector. Provide the necessary focus on training and developme

Key Skills/Experience Required

Education


  • Bachelor’s or related International Degree (Accounting Focus)
  • CPA or equivalent post graduate qualification (Big 4)


Work Experience

  • 10+ years of accounting experience
  • Field control and reporting experience
