Job Description
The Technical Data Management (TDM) and Subsurface and Wells workflow support teams in Project and Technology ‘PT’ Development have a global business proximate presence working closely with the technical disciplines in PT and in the different upstream business units. They provide support with day to day business delivery, managing the subsurface technical data and provide workflow support to efficiently use external and internal Subsurface and Wells ‘SSW’ software.
Data and the way this is strategically managed and used in evolving technical workflows is the foundation required to enable digitalization transformation as the next drive for efficiency and business improvements within Royal Dutch Shell ‘RDS’ and Upstream subsurface and wells. The team is positioned to support this transformation.
As a Production Geology Workflow advisor your primary responsibility will be to provide functionality and workflow support to the PG Geoscience community in the MENA & Russia Regions, technology penetration and improvements in end user efficiency will be the main measures for success.
This role will include user training, Application testing, Workflow Development, promoting applications’ enhancements, etc.
The purpose of this challenging role is to support Production Geologists and Geoscientists in Shell in maximizing the value they obtain from reservoir modelling software. The key support will be focused on Shell's next generation reservoir modelling software, PetroSigns.
Accountabilities:
- The portfolio of software supported includes Shell proprietary, and industry standard applications (e.g. PetroSigns and Petrel) as well as supported workflows using interfaces with e.g. GeoSigns, TechLog, OFM, OpenWorks, and WellVantage etc.
- Know and understand the needs of the Geoscience User base.
- Customer focus, knowledgeable in providing support and advisory services to technical workers not only based in Egypt, but also in Kazakhstan, Tunisia, Qatar, and Kuwait.
- Provide within-Region, virtual and face-to-face support and training services for all PG workhorse applications (PetroSigns -Shell IP application, Petrel, TechLog, etc.).
- Deliver training at all scales (Application specific training, Workflow presentation for Asset Teams, etc.)
- Testing new versions of software, workflows, interfaces, and performance etc.
- Collaborate closely with the other Workflow Support disciplines and TDM teams in the region in order to provide end-to-end support to all users.
- Work closely with the global team and be the ambassador for Shell technology to be deployed in the region
- Capture and share knowledge relevant for the Production Geology Workflows e.g. success stories, and useful tips.

Experience and Qualifications required:
- The successful candidate will have a degree in a Geoscience discipline and a strong technical background with oil and gas experience.
- Understand the Geology and Geophysics applications, data and databases, interfaces and infrastructure.
- Have the ability to undertake problem analysis as part of the end-to-end support network to identify the root cause of incidents and escalate findings with relevant stakeholders within Information Management/ Information Technology, the product development teams, the business and 3rd party vendors.
- Have effective communication with the user community for the dissemination of pertinent information relating to the workflow and associated applications, such as news releases, announcements, critical defects and useful tips.
- Other additional skills like Python scripting – Python, R, visualization – Sportfire, PowerBI, data science is nice to have
