Job Description
- Analyze and test terminology management systems available on the market and implement the most appropriate one
- The collection and/or creation of terminological resources for all translation projects
- Administer and maintain a term-base and data structure compliant with industry standards
- Develop mono or multilingual terminology databases
- Prepare and manage terminology collections (terminology databases such as glossary, vocabulary, nomenclature, term list, etc.)
- Prepare a corpus for the terminology work and the documentation of the terminology collections
- Develop a process for harvesting and documenting source and target terminology
- Write clear, concise definitions for terms
- Refer to reference materials, such as dictionaries, lexicons, encyclopedias, and computerized terminology banks, as needed to ensure translation accuracy.
Job Requirements
- Relevant bachelor’s degree
- Ideally several years of experience as a translator.
- Proficiency in at least one language in addition to your native language
- Familiarity with web resources (e.g. existing databases and glossaries) and other sources
- Ability to collate and/or create terminological resources for specific purposes or target groups
- Proficiency in the use, creation, and management of terminology databases.
- Tools expertise, including the ability to evaluate relevant software, such as: terminology management systems (TMS), computer assisted translation (CAT), Machine Translation (MT), TMS interfaces to other applications, Term extraction tools, etc
- Good general IT competence (office application, especially Excel)
- Basic knowledge of mark-up language
- Ability to work under stress and to meet deadlines.
- Flexibility and adaptability to the needs of the business
