As a ETL Data Specialist at IBM, you'll team with some of the best minds in the industry to create innovative high quality solutions focused on clients' business needs. You'll do this using your systems knowledge and expertise to design and model applications, develop application solutions, and integrate them with custom solutions, COTS software or packaged applications.
The ETL Data Specialist moves data from the operational & external environments to the business intelligence environment (or between operational environments) using IBM's InfoSphere DataStage ETL tool. The ideal candidate would also have some skills with other products in the related IBM suite like QualityStage, InfoSphere Discovery, Information Analyzer (IA), FastTrack, Information Governance Catalog (IGC), Netezza and MDM. The ideal candidate would also have some familiar with Big Data/Hadoop and a strong desire to learn/use related tools (e.g. Hortonworks and InfoSphere Streams).
The role may require the use of non-IBM ETL tools (e.g. Informatica, Ab Initio, BODS and Teradata) depending on the customer's environment. Candidate may potentially be required to take education and training on other ETL tools to expand his tool competency. Skills include designing and developing ETL processes. Candidate needs to be able to interact well within a project team and with customers. Looking for a candidate with the capability and desire to become a Senior ETL Designer/Architect in the Practice over time who would become an expert in the IBM Reference Architecture and BI Method, advocate IBM best practices in data integration and be willing to mentor others. Candidate should have a desire to harvest intellectual capital from engagements and enhance the quality of IBM assets for future customer engagements.
- Experience and proficiency in IBM's DataStage ETL tool.
- Good understanding of ETL design principles and best practices.
- Experience writing and executing SQL scripts
- Experience with databases and appliance such as DB2, Oracle, Netezza and/or Teradata.
- Experience with MDM..
- Strong aptitude for troubleshooting technical issues.
- Understands the concepts related to data warehousing, enterprise software integration, business intelligence and Big Data.
- Experience with test case development, and ETL test support.
