Job Description
Human Resources Generalist
- Partnering with the Director, Human Resources to implement and support HR programs and procedures; create, maintain and make recommendations for improvements on all HR related policies, procedures, guidelines and training documentation.
- Assisting and coordinating staff payroll and benefits, deductions and payment
- Managing and supporting talent acquisition and the recruitment process by reviewing job descriptions for alignment with the organization, evaluating new and existing roles using the Mercer Evaluation Tool, and banding positions within the compensation model.
- Influencing and participating in decision making on a variety of issues including, hiring, employee relations, HR Investigations etc.
- Full-cycle recruitment inclusive of interviews, references, advising managers of suitable candidates and compensation, and communicating with candidates on offers of employment
- Acting as the main point of contact for support, providing sound advice and recommendations on a variety of HR initiatives and issues for all levels in the organization
- Coordinating employee on-boarding and facilitating New Employee orientation.
- Leading and participating as a member of the Social Committee to organize fundraising events and social gatherings.
- Promoting a positive culture and employee engagement.
- Maintaining and creating employee files & records in electronic and paper form, such as contract of employment letters, employment renewal letters, leave of absence letters and employment confirmation letters ensuring HR and legislative compliance.
- Creating and updating organizational charts, employee master list, headcount report, and sending out regular “HR Updates” to notify staff of organizational employment changes.
- Recommending and influencing decisions on performance development planning.
- Planning and organizing employee training sessions.
- Conducting employee exit interviews and HR Reviews with new employees to gather and analyze information for organizational improvements.
- Drafting termination letters, conducting terminations of employment with staff and supporting the termination process.
Job Requirements
Requirements that are important to us:
- Post-secondary education in Business Administration or equivalent specializing in Human Resources
- Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience working with all levels across an organization in a fast-paced environment
- Experience managing full-cycle recruitment
- Solid knowledge of Human Rights legislation, Occupational Health, and Safety
- The ability to work autonomously, exercise good judgment and the ability to make decisions in a unique and ambiguous environment
- Highly organized, flexible and have the demonstrated ability to take the initiative
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Advanced MS Office skills, specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Able to multitask under tight deadlines, set priorities, manage time and work independently
- Must maintain confidentiality and have excellent interpersonal skills
- Proactive, positive, and a self-starting attitude
