Job Description:

  • The Program Coordinator ensures an accurate, proper, timely and high quality implementation of projects in the Tdh delegation in Egypt.
  • S/he has a major responsibility for projects’ strategic orientation, effective implementation and quality outcomes.

The three main tasks of this function are:

  • Strategic Programme Development:
  • Team Management: follow, support and supervise the Project Managers for the successful implementation of the projects;
  • Programme Quality: ensure the technical quality of the approaches and projects implemented, as well as the capacity-building of the technical skills of Tdh staff and partners.
  • The Programme Coordinator, based in Cairo, reports to the Country Representative, also based in Cairo. As head of Technical department, s/he has a functional line with all others departments (Finance and Admin, Logistics).

Strategic Program Development:

  • Provide leadership in strategic program development in collaboration with the program team and with the support of the regional coordinators in the areas of migration, juvenile Justice and child labor, with the cross cutting themes of child protection, gender, early marriage and livelihood;
  • Contribute to the general fundraising efforts of the delegation under the leadership of the Country Representative (CR);
  • Support the CR in facilitating high level donors visits of Tdh Egypt projects ensuring they are planned in a way which maximizes benefits and impact;
  • Ensure that Tdh Egypt projects are in line with Tdh Foundation strategic directions and vision, and apply best development principles and practices;
  • Ensure that Tdh Egypt projects are implemented with the highest quality, by integrating relevant sector technical best practices, in line with the Tdh theory of change and project models under the technical guidance of the regional coordinators;
  • Plan and conduct quarterly and annual program review meetings to assess progress, adjust plans and draw/disseminate lessons learned;
  • Provides technical support and guidance to her/his team, in order to ensure an excellent level of quality of the projects implemented, compliant with international standards.
  • Oversee the proper monitoring of projects’ impact, assess each activity in terms of contribution to expected outcomes. Discuss and validate with Project Managers the proposed changes/adjustments in activities if needed;
  • Ensure the harmonization of programmatic approaches and processes and engage with other delegations to ensure harmonization of practices.

Internal Coordination

  • Under the leadership of the CR and in collaboration with other coordinators, actively participate to regular internal coordination meetings; present a detailed review of current achievements, challenges faced and options considered for each project;
  • Ensure the correct flow of information about projects to others departments in the delegation;
  • In cooperation with the technical advisors at the headquarters, drive and contribute to research initiatives in the field; explore partnership avenues/methods for their developments (relations with institutions: university, research center, local NGO, etc.);
  • Under the supervision of the CR and with the technical support of regional coordinators, contribute to the development of the thematic strategies in line with Tdh strategic commitments.

External Coordination

  • In agreement with the CR, ensure regular attendance to all relevant coordination meetings at national and local levels and proper information feedback to Project Managers and other departments whenever appropriate;
  • Under the supervision of the CR, represent Tdh locally to partners, donors, NGOs, international organizations and local authorities, with adequate information feedback to the CR.

Team Management:

  • Directly supervise seven Project Managers involved in the following project areas: child protect

Job Requirements

Experience of INGO project management in the field is mandatory:

  • Previous relevant experience and extensive knowledge of the relevant programs: child protection, migration, child labor, juvenile justice, etc.
  • Previous relevant experience and extensive knowledge of project design and experience in project development (strong knowledge and skills in M&E is especially important)
  • Strong experience in developing strategies as well as local partnerships;
  • Large experience of major institutional donors (UNICEF, UNHCR, SDC, USAid etc.) and significant projects;
  • Experience undertaking field assessments, exploratory missions, baseline and end-line survey;
  • Strong knowledge and expertise in M&E;
  • Experience with budgets and budgeting;
  • Analytical and problem solving skills

Previous relevant experience and excellent competencies in human resources management and good managerial skills (national and international teams).

  • Excellent team leadership;
  • Organisational and managerial skills;
  • Strong capacity and motivation for team work;
  • Ability to motivate and develop skills of others.

Other Personal Abilities

  • Fluency in English is essential, Arabic is an asset
  • Sound personal organisational skills, including time management, ability to meet deadlines, multi-tasking, prioritization of tasks, and working under pressure
  • Communication of professional needs in a clear, concise and responsible manner;
  • Cross cultural awareness and sensitivity;
