Job Description

  • Conceptualize and create new products and formulas that meet or exceed customer standards for quality, experience, and cost
  • Scale, mix, new and existing products for product evaluations and sales samples
  • Document and issue reports related to development process and resources
  • Develop product specifications based on approved Meats products
  • Commercialize product specifications based on manufacturing environment, equipment, and labor requirements
  • Conduct and organize Meats trials based on commercialized product specifications
  • Support Operations and Quality Assurance with manufacturing new products
  • Improve product formulations - taste/flavor matches, , and potential cost reductions
  • Embrace and refine development process with an eye to ingredient qualification, label impact, and manufacturing efficiencies
  • Investigate and recommend new ingredients, keeping current with consumer trends and nutritional regulations
  • Work on special projects; may include support to sales team with written materials and Meats samples, performing and documenting quality tests based on customer needs

Job Requirements

  • Demonstrated skill in high-level baking processes and techniques
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize multiple projects, self-directed
  • High energy, ability to support continual testing, analysis and improvement, and the ability to concentrate and focus in manufacturing environment
  • Creativity and imagination
  • Attention to detail, throughout the job, from the first step, until documentation is complete
  • No major food allergies or tasting limitations
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Works well with others in a team setting
  • Ability to lift 10 % to 15 % sales
  • Able to stand for long periods of time
  • Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Bachelor's Degree In agriculture , or Bachelor of Veterinary Science
  • Minimum of 10 years of Meats experience in research & development,
  • Knowledge of baking science and ingredient interactions
  • Training in sensory, basic food safety, and FDA labeling requirements
  • Strong knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Office programs.
