Job Description

Media Relations Manager is the one leading the media and clippings department and is responsible for planning and executing PR plans with the media, in charge of press kit materials and other PR materials like; press releases, positioning Op-Eds and white papers, feature stories and, and pitching story ideas to the media.

S/he should perform fundamental PR tasks such as maximizing media outreach and press material development. The primary day-to-day operations should involve providing supporting to the media team and operations related.

The Media Relations Manager must have strong media background with high communication, writing and editing skills in both Arabic and English.

Primary Responsibilities:

Media

  • Plan, develop and implement PR strategies.
  • Advise on media strategy for agency accounts
  • Maintain /build new contact as per the target sector
  • Keep track of media contacts data
  • Ensure max coverage to press coverage to all our clients
  • Day-to-day press follow-up with press and media team
  • Plan, run and follow up interviews
  • Prepare & handle media relations during events (conferences, roundtables, etc)
  • Respond to media and client requests
  • Keep track of media data – frequency, circulation, language, etc
  • Keep abreast of new trends in media and new media outlets
  • Keep abreast of new editorial and sponsorship opportunities
  • Review and advise on media/client reports
  • Coordinate with account executives or account managers

Client

  • Manage the media team
  • Correspond and update the client on media issues
  • Liaison between media and the client

Writing

  • Research, write and distribute press releases to targeted media.
  • Translation E/A
  • Proof and edit Arabic related documents as needed

Team Management

  • Work with account executives on providing the media counsel needed for the client.
  • Serve as a role model to media team members
  • Actively participate in agency development processes
  • Continually communicate with the management.
  • Delegate work to interns, media coordinators and administration \
  • Informally adds feedback to performance review of colleagues as needed

Job Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree

Professional Experience:

  • 7+ years of professional experience in media. Agency or media experience is a must.

Success Factors

  • Strong E/A translation
  • Strong oral and written Arabic editing
  • Exceptional judgment when working with team members, client contacts and vendors
  • Research and development areas
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite, Internet, on-line services
