Job Description

Strategic

  • Implement the quality philosophy for the business unit around Quality Control and Quality Assurance involving inspection, identification of bad quality, rejection and process improvement to reduce poor quality production in the plant
  • Finalize the department budget, ensure adherence to department budgets and minimize operating costs and overheads Operational
  • Ensure preparation of timely and accurate countermeasures to address customer issues
  • Provide support to other departments including Production, Purchase, NPD, QA, Sales and Marketing on what systems and protocols should be followed in the raw material and packaged material process
  • Ensure that patrol inspection schedules are adhered to, and review the inspection reports on a periodic basis
  • Respond to critical quality complaints from customers, evaluate the effectiveness of corrective actions taken for critical market complaints and ensure that complaints are closed in a timely manner
  • Monitor the cost due to rejections, rework and support other departments in controlling the same
  • Monitor the in-process quality by setting standards and supporting the production teams to adhere to the same
  • Conduct root cause analysis of the quality related issues/incidents and ensure the required countermeasures
  • Ensure that incidents are dealt with as per standard operating procedures and within prescribed timelines
  • Review customer/supplier rejection reports, conduct root cause analysis of the quality related issues/incidents, collect and analyze data related to the product for which complaints is received, present the same to the respective team and ensure required countermeasures
  • Ensure all raw materials and the packaged material is procured from approved suppliers and matches the specifications provided by the R&D and the packaging department
  • Ensure that incidents are dealt with as per standard operating procedures and within prescribed timelines
  • Conduct in-process quality checks by testing the product sample at critical points for ensuring high-quality output
  • Ensure implementation of quality management systems as required, review the deviations, if any and recommend corrective actions
  • Provide QA support to ensure right-the-first time execution of new product roll-out. Maintain relationship with municipal authorities for various purposes inclusive of certificate issuing for the exports of the goods, implementation of new standards and registration of new product
  • Work with various agencies including government bodies and private institutes that offer guidance in further performance improvement of the company in terms of systems, procedures, food quality and safety requirements
  • Audit and ensure implementation of ISO systems and procedures, Food Safety Management systems and procedures and Safety, Health and Environment Management systems & procedures across the plant
  • Ensure compliance with local/national/international standards and legislation and lead the Quality Audits for the plant by coordinating with all departments and ensuring effective implementation of the same
  • Drive quality related improvement projects at the plant including customer projects as well as internal improvement initiatives and deploy corresponding analytical tools to measure the effectiveness of the same
  • People Management
  • Allocate work to subordinates, nominate for training as per guidelines, conduct performance reviews and manage leave and overtime to ensure efficiency.
  • Participate in the identification of training and development initiatives for all subordinates

Job Requirements

Work experience requirements:

  • Minimum of 7+ years of related experience, with 3 – 4 years as a manager in the QA & QC function, preferably in the food industry

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Masters in Technology with specialization in food technology
