Job Description
1. Sales Generation
- Uses Selling steps, in particular
- Establishing guest needs.
- Using Feature, Advantages, and Benefit statements.
- Overcoming objections.
- Closing the sale.
- Selling add-ons.
- Keeps well informed on stock availability – when it is due to arrive and what stock can be sold as a substitute.
- Keeps up to date on all product knowledge and product ranges.
- Promotes advertised/promoted products
2. Guest Care
- Applies the four rules of guest service when dealing with guests.
- Approaches guests promptly in a friendly and courteous manner.
- Handles all guest queries and complaints by being helpful and empathetic.
- Advise guests accurately and honestly about products.
- Keeps promises made to guests.
- Ensures all activity is in keeping with the corporate mission statement.
- Consumer sovereignty.
- Merchandising and Housekeeping
- Ensures correct application of company merchandising principles.
- Ensures new lines are displayed promptly.
- Changes display regularly, e.g. seasonal changes, end caps, windows etc.
- Awareness of fast and slow sellers and communications out of stock / overstock situations to Department Manager.
- Maintains high standard of cleanliness in department, as well as stockroom and back areas.
- Maintains acceptable level of personal grooming and wears staff uniform or company prescribed clothing and name badge at all times in-store.
3. Security
- Assists in protection of stores assets by correctly carrying out procedures for prevention of theft and reporting any staff / guest dishonestly or irregularity to management.
- Demonstrates honesty in all dealings with guests, staff and management.
- Cares for and maintains Company assets and reports any damage to stock and/or equipment to Management.
- Minimizes stock losses by giving good guest service and maintaining a degree of vigilance over stock and stock movement.
- Ensure fitting rooms are staffed and well maintained.
4. Promotions
- Supports all promotions by being aware of all advertised specials.
- Checks stock levels prior to promotion and discusses any problems with Department Manager.
- Displays all promotional items prominently with clear signage.
- Creates awareness with all guests of promoted items.
- Develops and creates promotional activities in line with commercial calendar
5. Administration
- Actions all price changes accurately and timeously.
- Conducts regular comparative shopping and reports on it.
- Actions stock counts when requested.
- Completes all administration accurately and neatly.
- Ensures correct application of company signage principles
- Prepares and communicates proper scheduling and ensure the that staff are compliant with their shifts
- To perform any other reasonable tasks as requested by his/her Direct manager/Duty Manager.
