Job Description

We are a London based start-up in the Educational Technology (EdTech) sector. The startup is focused on revolutionizing online education and e-learning pedagogical models. We are basically building an online courses platform.

The ideal person for this job is someone who wants to build a legacy for themselves as well as make a success out of uLeague.


We need an enthusiastic Senior Web Developer with an experience in Ruby on Rails (RoR) Developer and a mind to grow and be a part of our innovating journey. The role requires minimal supervision for an individual interested in applying their skills to the challenge of creating and writing web applications, and features. The role extends beyond that as we are looking for a Technical Lead to manage our growing team.

As a RoR developer at uLeague, you will be:

  • Developing Web Applications, Websites and E-Commerce based apps.
  • Keep pace with business trends, standards, and best practices in this area of expertise.
  • Indulging in Education Technology and understanding the growing trends in the sector.
  • A forward mind that is innovating and enhancing current and new developments
  • Leading a growing technical team.

Job Requirements

  • Graduated from a university with a Bachelor certificate (Engineering Preferred)
  • Good understanding of the syntax of Ruby and its nuances
  • Solid understanding of object-oriented programming
  • Understanding of functional programming style in Ruby
  • Skills for writing reusable Ruby libraries that may be used in expressive ways
  • Familiarity with concepts of MVC, Mocking, ORM, and RESTful
  • Experience with popular web application frameworks (such as Rails, Lotus)
  • Familiarity with command-suite libraries, such as (such as Thor and GLI)
  • Knack for writing clean, readable Ruby code
  • Experience with both external and embedded databases
  • Understanding of fundamental design principles behind a scalable application
  • Able to create database schemas that represent and support business processes
  • Implementation of automated testing platforms and unit tests
  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools (e.g. Git, Mercurial or SVN)
  • Familiarity with development aiding tools (such as Bower, Bundler, Rake, etc)
  • Familiarity with continuous integration
