Job Description

  • Ensure optimal and safe performance of all vessels (Dredger & Booster) by operating and maintaining the engine room in the most effective and efficient way.
  • Execute the implementation of the maintenance schedule and spare parts requirements in accordance with plan and technical specifications for all vessels.
  • Work and act according to the defined policies and procedures of Technical Department.
  • Provide accurate reports to the superintendent on work done/ performance, issues and preventive maintenance requirements.
  • Ensure and provide guidance in the execution of basic and instant repairment on board.
  • Report to superintendents on the day to day performance of technical parts of the engine room, escalate if needed to superintendents in order to minimize downtime.
  • Agree with Sr. dredge master on the most suitable way to maintain the engine technically while keeping the performance at its maximum capacity.
  • Actively monitor if the HSE requirements are observed in the engine room and report on it to the superintendent. Follow up on QHSE reports/ recommendations if needed.
  • Work closely with superintendent and Sr. dredge master in supervising and ensuring the quality of the dry docking activities.
  • Liaise with (Sr.) dredge master on regarding any failure or maintenance requirements which may affect the performance of the dredger.
  • Record, evaluate and document technical data of the engines.
  • Responsible for timely ordering technical aspects and spare parts.
  • Provide leadership and guidance towards technical staff on vessels and support crafts.
  • Efficiently and constructively cooperate with technical staff, (Sr.) dredge masters and operational crew.
  • Provide the superintendent with input on development needs and performance of subordinates as part of the performance evaluation process.
  • Control and monitor Dredger/Booster KPls.
  • Investigate, understand and respond to the needs of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain strategically important client and contractor relations.
  • Proactively serve and constructively respond to external client needs in order to meet business priorities.
  • Initiate and stimulate horizontal (between departments) and vertical (within the different departments) cooperation in the organization.
  • Show respect, flexibility and loyalty towards colleagues throughout the organization.
  • Communicate constructively and effectively with all levels within and outside the organization orally and in writing. Actively listen and be persuasive in reasoning.
  • Adapt oral and written communication style to the audience.
  • Manage conflict, solve problems and mediate between different interests of multiple stakeholders.

Job Requirements

  • Engineering bachelor or master degree or an equivalent professional qualification.
  • Be able to manage personnel with different cultural backgrounds.
  • Motivate and inspire colleagues to develop knowledge, skills and competencies. Provide objective and constructive feedback in an appropriate way.
  • Stimulate a result-oriented organizational culture by regularly sharing the department's/division's performance and results.
  • Be able to translate division targets into concrete and measurable goals for a timely achievement of goals.
