Job Description
Safety engineer with a proven track record working in infrastructural development projects to perform the following:
- Ensure compliance to the law and the HSE-specific procedures and work instructions and assign a cross-functional HSE team
- Work to obtain all relative required licenses
- Organize and share periodical HSE meeting quarterly in minimum (to include: Management team, HSE team/representatives --etc.)
- Planning of necessary safety devices, -signage and equipment agreed with the company management
- Collaborate with responsible local work, health and environmental protection agencies and authorities; fire brigade, medical, -- etc.
- Provide periodical reports with statistics and Mops to the local management team
- Achieve audit as targeted
- Ensure calibration and safety examination of equipment, machinery and devices before the first use and after relevant changes (e.g. Repair)
- Run regular safety inspection of all work places on site
- Collect and investigate work and road accidents, prepare the necessary reports for the local authorities and take corrective and preventive actions accordingly.
- Prepare and support the HSE required training; support company management with the instruction procedure; independent training of employees to increase special qualifications (e.g. internal safety, fire fighters, first aiders --etc.)
- Monitor and ensure prevention measures of the fire protection and regular examinations of the fire protective and fighting equipment
- Set up and maintain the emergency procedures and the first aiding devices
- Monitor and ensure the introduction of hazardous substances and handling according to the local law; leading a local hazardous substances register (annual evaluation)
- Prepare a list with the hazardous substances locally used for HSE- (for the release requests and the inclusion of the overall LEONI hazardous substances register)
- Prepare the job specific work instructions for machinery and hazardous substances according to the forms
- Set up and ensure maintenance of a waste management and a conception for the water protection
- Monitor and ensure collection of energy data (water, oil, electrical current, gas)
Job Requirements
- Bachelor degree in civil engineering
- Has a good understanding of safety and related hazards in a construction site
- Willingness to work in rural Egypt
- Experience in infrastructural projects (pipework) is huge advantage
