Job Description
- In depth-Understanding the source language text, rendering it correctly in the target language with the appropriate meaning, style and register to the target audience.
- Trans-creating may also be part of the job, which is a mix of translation, localization and copywriting, where the text is culturally and linguistically adapted to suit the reader.
- Making sure that the intellectual and structural content of the source language is maintained in the target language.
- Conducting any required research, using specialized dictionaries, thesauruses, and online sources, to find the most accurate translation of the source text.
- Read, understand and follow all instructions of the project he/she works on.
- Proofreading and editing the translated material.
- Adhering to the Translation Style Guide approved to work accordingly.
- Making sure that the translations meet the applicable standards through sufficient research, checking by performing second and total final revision.
- Maintaining an ethical code that protects the confidentiality of information.
- Revises translations done by others.
- Ability to use Translation Memory software, such as Wordfast, SDL Trados to ensure consistency of translation within documents and help efficiency.
- Monitors and makes suggestions to improve performance and accuracy.
- Maintains and builds our Spanish-Arabic glossaries for words and terms.
- Quality Control of the Spanish content.
- Prioritizing work to meet deadlines.
- Collaborating with colleagues by asking and sharing knowledge with the aim to reach the best translation results and help building a professional team.
- Translation may include a variety of documents that can be commercial, Educational, Legal, marketing materials, documentary films/ movies' script or technical issues.
Job Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in Spanish language, Translation & Linguistics, or any other relevant field.
- Preferable postgraduate studies in translation or linguistics.
- 3-5 years of translation experience
- Excellent writing skills and command of grammar.
- Attention to details combined with the ability to work quickly and under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Excellent writing & grammar skills of Spanish and Arabic
- Time management skills
- Problem-solving & effective communication skills
- Working as a part of a team
