Job Description

Job Title: Accounting Assistant

Department: HEI Public University Scholarship Program, AMIDEAST/Egypt

Immediate Supervisor: Accounting Officer

Location: Cairo, Egypt

Position Summary:

The Accounting Assistant will be responsible for supporting the accounting officer in all project accounting functions including accurately completing accounting entries into the Deltek Costpoint™ accounting system, reviewing backup documentation for payment requests and advance settlements, filing accounting paperwork, and pulling financial reports for team members.

Responsibilities:

  • Enter clear, thorough, accurate and correct data entry for payments
  • Understand and comply with all AMIDEAST financial procedures and processes and USAID regulations
  • Prepare forms and manuals for accounting officer or AMIDEAST finance department
  • Process all aspects of monthly close of financial records.
  • Prepare journal entries for review and approval of Accounting Officer
  • Manage and track petty cash transactions
  • Assist with preparation of documents for the audit process
  • Review invoices from all program vendors, prepare complete payment documentation and prepare payments for Accounting Officer review and approval
  • Maintain up-to-date, complete, and organized financial records, with all required backup materials, in hard copy and electronically
  • Draft paperwork related to VAT exemptions or other financial matters.
  • Prepare accounting records, including financial statements and other financial reports, to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to AMIDEAST HEI standards
  • Issue financial reports from the accounting system to support student officers in the financial monitoring of their activities.
  • Perform other tasks as requested.

Job Requirements

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited, recognized university
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in an intense team-based working environment
  • Shows respect to and complies with the company policies, standards and procedures
  • Demonstrated attention to detail
  • Takes personal responsibility for delivery of results on time and to quality standards
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including strong Excel skills
  • Fluent in English and Arabic;
  • Egyptian citizenship

Preferred:

  • A minimum of two year’s work experience in accounting
  • Working experience with an accounting industry standard software application such as Deltek Costpoint.
  • Knowledge of USGAAP
