Job Description

Job Summary

Teachers actively instruct students, create lesson plans, assign and correct homework, manage students in the classroom, communicate with parents and help students prepare for standardized testing. Teacher job duties can vary significantly between instruction, guidance, supporting and modeling to their students. Teachers may need to help students in schools the mastery of basic skills that is of utmost importance.

Teaching and Instruction

  • Prepare weekly lesson plans on time as required by school policy.
  • Design teaching materials to sustain students' interest in the subject.
  • Design and implement clear instruction methodology.
  • Set culture standards for learning.
  • Monitor students' progress in the subject.
  • Monitor overall academic development.
  • Design student assessment systems and practices.
  • Prepare and arrange teaching and learning materials.
  • Prepare training aids along with projects related to subject matter taught.
  • Present relevant enrichment to classroom teaching using personal experience.
  • Ensure to motivate students to demonstrate enthusiasm, professionalism and sensitivity for their concerns.
  • Ensure every educational activity is performed in an ethical manner.
  • Plan and provide suitable learning experiences for students.
  • Monitor and analyze student results.
  • Ensure to maintain and enhance professional competence in his/her subject.
  • Develop, select and modify instructional plans along with materials to attain needs of every student.
  • Use demonstrations and props to teach subjects.
  • Lesson plans include classroom work, such as class instruction, tests and quizzes.
  • Assign reasonable homework to students to reinforce the lessons learned in the classroom.
  • Schedule field trips for students during the year to provide learning experiences outside of the classroom.
  • Motivate and inspire young children to develop a lifelong love of learning and education.
  • Teachers may work with children in small groups or with individual students who may be struggling with the classroom material and also instruct students to work collaboratively with other children.
  • Demonstrates accurate and up-to-date knowledge of content.
  • Implements designated curriculum.
  • Assumes a role in meeting the school’s student achievement goals, including academic gains of students assigned to the teacher

Assessments, Evaluation and Grades:

  • Evaluate the students' comprehension and knowledge of the material.
  • Use assessments of homework assignments, quizzes and tests to determine a student’s progress in the class.
  • Observe behavior when assessing a student’s progress in school.
  • Observations may help identify learning or behavioral problems.
  • Evaluations and assessments can also identify exceptional students.
  • Teachers keep records of grades and attendance for each student in the classroom.
  • Maintains confidentiality of students and students’ records.
  • Update the students’ grades on weekly basis.
  • Follow up with the students missing work and update their grade book on time.

Communication

  • Demonstrates communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with students, parents, other teachers, administrators, and other school personnel.
  • Works cooperatively with school administrators, special support personnel, colleagues, and parents
  • Participate in all meetings and perform actively on staff committees.
  • Provide environment encouraging to physical, social, intellectual and emotional development of all students.

Job Requirements and Qualifications

Becoming a teacher requires compassion, dedication, hard work and a lot of patience. There are a few basic teacher qualifications that you will have to achieve to be a KG English teacher.

Education, Licensing and Certification:

  • Teacher must possess a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and obtain professional teacher education requirements, such as teaching license.
  • Teacher to become licensed. “Tarbawy Diploma”.
  • The use of technology in the classroom.
  • Teacher has attended education programs with a specific emphasis on his/her subject.
  • Teacher has attended courses in child teaching, educational psychology, classroom field experience and introductory education.
  • Models correct use of English language, oral and written.

Continuing Education:

  • Teacher has to continue his/her education through joining educational courses for teaching early learners and adolescents.
  • Teachers should also obtain training for relevant technologies that could help in teaching.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

School teachers must possess the following skills:

  • Be able to collaborate with other teachers.
  • Engage students in learning.
  • Manage classroom.
  • Work with diverse backgrounds.
  • Be a leader.
  • Facilitate social relationships, communicate and interact with parents, teachers and students.

Teachers should also be self-motivated, detail-oriented, flexible and adaptable. They must also have initiative, a high stress tolerance, and high energy levels.
