Job Description

  • We are looking for a responsible HSE Engineer to facilitate compliance with occupational health and safety (OHS) guidelines.
  • Supporting the development of OHS policies and programs
  • Advising and instructing on various safety-related topics (noise levels, use of machinery etc.)
  • Conducting risk assessment and enforcing preventative measures
  • Provide advice on measures to minimize hazards or unhealthy situations
  • Largely focused on prevention so you need to be conscientious and farsighted
  • Establish a safe workplace according to legal standards and foster a culture of attention to health and safety.
  • Support the development of OHS policies, programs Advise and instruct on various safety-related topics (noise levels, use of machinery etc.
  • Conduct risk assessment and enforce preventative measures
  • Review existing policies and measures and update according to legislation
  • Initiate and organize OHS training of employees and executives
  • Inspect premises and the work of personnel to identify issues or non-conformity (e.g. not using protective equipment)
  • Oversee installations, maintenance, disposal of substances etc.
  • Stop any unsafe acts or processes that seem dangerous or unhealthy
  • Record and investigate incidents to determine causes and handle worker’s compensation claims
  • Prepare reports on occurrences and provide statistical information to upper management

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, occupational safety and health, or related field
  • Minimum of (10) years previous experience in comprehensive workplace safety and compliance programs
  • Solid knowledge of state and local statutes and ordinances on fire safety and prevention, loss control, hazardous chemicals, building, electrical, noise pollution and the environment
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
  • Ability to physically stand, bend, squat, and walk through the work day
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient computer skills, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel)
  • Up-to-date on latest local and state regulation and guideline changes
  • In depth knowledge of legislation (e.g. OSHA/EPA) and procedures
  • Knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices
  • BSc/BA in safety management, engineering or relevant field is preferred
  • Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety is preferred
