Job Description

  • Checking that the course we intend to run is approved and the tutors are verified.
  • Checking on CELTA room facilities as per CELTA specifications, (movable chairs, whiteboards, stationary, bookcase, desks, desk chairs, computers, sound systems, data show, printers, photocopier, scanner, internet connection, etc.)
  • Liaising with Admission Office with regards to fees and registration.
  • Liaising with System Development department with regards to updating the dates and fees on the official website along with any needed information related to CELTA.
  • Sending completed entry forms, recommended provisional grades and final grades for all candidates to Cambridge CELTA Admin via secure email
  • Dealing with candidates’ inquiries through telephone, email and face to face.
  • Arranging and scheduling candidate interviews
  • Informing candidates of interview results
  • Booking accommodation and transportation for candidates when needed.
  • Communicating with the CELTA candidates from the beginning of the registration process till the Centre receives Cambridge certificates, which includes:
  • Providing candidates with guidance as to what constitutes plagiarism and how to avoid it by making the centre plagiarism policy clear from the first day of the course
  • Ensuring that candidates are given six hours of live observations by experienced FUE teachers.
  • Making sure to inform the candidates that a record of attendance at the observed classes should be included in the CELTA 5.
  • Informing candidates that an external assessor visits each course for quality assurance purposes to assess the course delivery, facilities and the assessment of candidates.
  • Giving all candidates an equal opportunity to raise any concerns they have with the assessor during the visit.
  • Informing candidates that all grades recommended by a centre at the end of a course remain provisional until confirmed by Cambridge English after verification by a Joint Chief Assessor at a grade review.
  • Informing candidates about the appeal procedures and stages if needed.
  • Preparing candidates’ portfolios and checking that all documents are there at the end of the course ( centre policy, CELTA 5s, records of each assessed teaching practice in reverse chronological order, the four completed written assignments)
  • Maintaining a filing system for (pre-interview tasks, writing tasks, assessment forms, TP 5’s, application forms, and payment receipts)
  • Maintaining a filing system for the current resources, following up on them, and updating the system when needed.
  • Keeping records of trainees feedback forms
  • Recycling candidates’ portfolios from previous courses.
  • Scanning and sending a soft copy of Cambridge certificate to each candidate individually.
  • Creating a register to make sure each candidate has received his/her original certificate from the centre, along with the provisional certificates.
  • Selecting a local assessor, if he/she is not available, an assessor from the nearest country/region should be selected.
  • Arranging for the assessor’s grading meeting.
  • Receiving a copy of the assessor’s report, and addressing any recommendations raised in it.
  • Sending the portfolios of any candidates graded Pass/ Fail at the provisional grading meeting, and/or any work recommended by the assessor for scrutiny at the CELTA grade review
  • Checking the results issued on certificates against the final recommended results and contacting Cambridge CELTA Admin if there are any errors
  • Keeping the candidates’ portfolios up-to-date and available on the day of the assessor’s visit.
  • Ordering CELTA 5s when needed.

+ (performing other related duties as assigned to CELTA)

TP courses administration:

  • Scheduling placement tests for TP students
  • Recruiting TP students for both elementary and intermediate groups with the help of Kareem.
  • Creating TP students register (Elementary and Intermediate)
  • Communicating with TP students to disseminate information
  • Designing “Certificates of Attendance” and handing them to TP students on the last day of the CELTA course.

Job Requirements

  • A university degree (preferably from an English department)
  • Minimum of two years working experience
  • Excellent command of English language (C1 level)
  • Email writing skills
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
