Job Description

The Admission’s Directer is responsible for facilitating the admission of the appropriate caliber of students in accordance with AIS standards and policies, ensuring their smooth academic progression within AIS. Emphasis is placed on making all those who contact the Admission’s office feel welcome.

To supervise the Registrar who is responsible for the maintenance of permanent records of all students, including those who have graduated or withdrawn from AIS (in cooperation with the school offices).

To establish and maintain professional, effective communication and co-operation with the business office.

To supervise the Registrar’s work dealing with Admissions.

At all times the Admission’s Officer is aware of the confidentiality of student files and parent/teacher contacts.

Responsibilities:

  • Interview applicants and their parents in order to obtain complete and current information concerning suitability and grade placement of students
  • Review admission applications and school records to make sure files are complete/candidates suitable
  • Respond to all written and verbal inquiries regarding admission to AIS
  • Coordinate testing schedules with testing supervisor
  • Work closely with testing supervisor once tests have been graded and observations made; understand test results fully before communicating them to the Admissions Committee. Supervise work of the testing supervisor
  • Present complete files to the Admission Committee for decision on acceptance
  • Make sure committee’s decision /instructions/conditions are clearly written on the application form
  • Communicate committee’s decision to parents
  • Provide families with information concerning payment of fees in coordination with the business office
  • Make sure families have signed off on any/all conditions before payment.
  • Instruct business office when enrollment fees may be accepted by new student admissions. Monitor the daily report issued by the business office showing numbers of new/withdrawn and alert the financial manger of any discrepancies.
  • Establish, maintain and update files as necessary for all applicants and students already attending AIS.
  • Extract student report cards from Synergetic (as required) that reflect physical student files.
  • Keep up-to-date with all new teaching methods used by the faculty/school activities/any policies and practices that will help the Admission’s Officer better convey to parents what AIS has to offer.

Job Requirements

  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and cross-cultural communication skills. Problem solving skills and ability to multi-task and work independently
  • Diplomacy, discretion and flexibility are essential.
  • Mature personality required.
  • Proficiency in both written and spoken English
  • Computer literacy. Experience in developing and maintaining both electronic and paper filing systems.
  • Sense of humor an advantage
