Job Description
EgySolar is currently seeking a Procurement Engineer to procure, expedite and schedule deliveries of materials and services for Infrastructure, Civil and Electromechanical works to jobsite.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review tender's proposal, and technical and financial documents to gather and list the required quantities and specifications.
- Maintain and implement construction proforma / budget for each project
- Negotiate pricing contracts with subcontractors and suppliers
- Create scopes of work
- Issue purchase orders for procurement and expedition of materials and equipment for jobs
- Meet subcontractors and suppliers on-site as necessary
- Ensure compliance to project budgets and provide analysis of deviations
- Ensure accurate takeoffs to ensure budgets are accurate
- Research new materials for design and cost savings
- Maintain subcontractor and supplier insurance policies
- Develop and implement new purchasing strategies to deliver ongoing cost reductions and process simplification
- Maintain relationships with subcontractors and suppliers
- Establish new relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure adequate resources for all projects and to continually improve pricing and quality of work
- Assist in ensuring awareness and company compliance to all building codes and local construction guidelines
- Assist in maintaining company quality control program
- Leverage technology, safety measures, and information sharing to increase productivity and profitability
- Assist in settling invoice or contract disputes
- Handle change order requests
- Forecast upcoming demand
- Maintain sub/supplier information on company internal database
- Manage materials/equipment inventory
- Create and manage an evaluation system for suppliers and conduct evaluations after each purchase to track the suppliers’ performance and take future decisions accordingly.
- Attend meetings, trade shows, conferences, conventions, and seminars necessary to network with stakeholders involved in the procurement process to improve the division’s function and effectiveness.
- Collect and review catalogs, industry periodicals, directories, trade journals, and websites to keep updated knowledge of materials.
Job Requirements
EDUCATION:
- BSc/MA in Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
EXPERIENCE:
- 5 years of relevant experience relating to cost driving, procurement and supply chain in relation to infrastructure or industrial construction
SKILLS:
- Fluent in English
- Good understanding of Tendering / procurement Process
- Strong expertise in the cost drivers for major construction commodities and the associated cost impact on the business.
- Thought leader recognized outside the organization as a cost engineering functional expert.
- Familiar with construction, energy, and engineering projects from a procurement and project development perspective.
- Familiarity with how cost calculations are derived and what direct costs and mark-ups are applicable, throughout the entire supply chain
- Ability to demonstrate and apply comprehensive knowledge of field of specialization to the successful completion of complex assignments.
- Displays a high level of critical thinking in bringing successful resolution to high-impact, complex, and/or cross-functional problems.
