Job Description

  • Responsible for personal and regular contact with all existing customers and developing new business and new accounts within assigned territory
  • Spend 70% of available time in personal contact with accounts or potential accounts
  • Responsible for being alert to all competitive activities and practices. Reports to the Sales Manager all opportunities and assists in remedial action for problems. Is to report any customer product line changes and personnel buying influences.
  • Responsible for meeting assigned quota objectives (volume, margins and expenses).
  • Responsible for assisting Sales Manager in developing forecasts, call frequencies, customer priorities, market analysis data, and all required reporting by or on the required dates.
  • Develop strategic account plans, negotiate annual pricing agreements, and pursue value-selling methodologies to achieve business unit sales objectives.
  • Respond to customer inquiries, provide accurate sales forecasts, and address issues involving slow-moving inventory, past-due payments, and customer disputed items.
  • Assist in the privatization of customer orders and take actions to ensure sufficient levels of on-time delivery performance.
  • Investigate customer claims, issue corrective actions responses, and address technical issues as they arise.
  • Perform customer cold calls, develop new accounts for profitable sales growth, and issue detailed trip reports for sales management
  • Collect competitor intelligence and provide market input for business cases as necessary.
  • Complete a detailed market map of Industrial accounts and increase Time market penetration for both long products and value-added components.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from four-year college or university (if BA preferably a technical degree)
  • 2+ years of experience in Technical Sales including experience selling products that require engineering skills such as reading technical drawings, understanding manufacturing tolerances, reading a load diagram, etc
  • Need experience selling products within at least ONE of the following industries: Construction Equipment, Electrical Equipment, Generators, Cranes,Tunneling Equipment, Renewable Energy Market, Medical Equipment, Material handling Equipment, and/or Off Highway
  • A PLUS to have proven success working out of a home office environment
  • Ability & Willingness to travel.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills and have a self starter working style
