Job Description

Job Summary:

  • to further the work of the school in line with the School Vision Statement;
  • to ensure the highest possible standards of education of the pupils for whom the teacher has responsibility - socially, emotionally, physically, intellectually and aesthetically;
  • if allocated an area of responsibility, to ensure the development of pupils and colleagues through that area;
  • to ensure continuity of policy and curriculum throughout the school.
  • Plan and prepare schemes of work and individual lessons appropriate to the needs, interests, experience and existing knowledge of the pupils in the class.
  • Setting and supervising work by pupils
  • Teach a class, group or individual pupils, and set tasks to be undertaken both at school and at home.
  • Mark and assess pupils' work and record their development, progress and attainment.
  • Maintain good order, discipline and respect for others among all pupils; promote the school's rules and values; safeguard health and safety; and develop relationships with and between pupils conducive to optimum learning.
  • Communication with parents
  • Build and maintain co-operative relationships with parents, and communicate with them on pupils' learning and progress, drawing attention to special skills and talents as well as to problems and difficulties.
  • This will be carried out through written reports, formal consultation meetings and additional meetings, as required (see Communication Policy).
  • Maintain an attractive and stimulating learning environment, and contribute to displays in the school as a whole (see Display Policy).
  • Overall policy and review
  • Take part in whole-school reviews of policy and aims, and in the revision of guidelines.
  • Keep up-to-date with current educational thinking and practice by attendance at courses, workshops and meetings and through professional reading.Extra curricular activities
  • At the direction of the Headteacher, lead after school activities students that are based upon the personal skills and interests of the teacher.
  • These will not be required of staff while the school is small but teachers will develop these as the school grows.
  • Help ensure that learning resources and learning tasks reflect school policies on race and gender equality and that the implications of those policies are borne in mind in relation to all tasks and duties in 1-9 above.

  • INTERNATIONAL BRITISH SCHOOL OF ALEXANDRIA (IBSA)
  • IBSA is looking for enthusiastic, energetic and hardworking teachers to join their friendly staff team in Alexandria for August 2018 in the following positions:
  • KS1 and KS2 Class teachers.
  • Native English speakers with Bachelor’s degree and teaching qualification required(PGCE).
  • Minimum 2-years full-time teaching experience preferred but QTS considered.
