Job Description

Position Summary:

  • Reports to the Center’s Executive Director. Responsible for management,
  • supervision, and coordination of the employment center in compliance with the Center’s directives.

Essential Functions:

  • Pre-screens job seekers for work ready status, interviews
  • Matches and place qualified applicants with employers.
  • Evaluate the employer, its seriousness to recruit graduates and his working conditions
  • Provide students with basic directions, instructions and career guidance.
  • Develop and implement new/revised policies/procedures affecting employability, career preparation and placement system with compliance to quality management system
  • Develop the work readiness program and improve the supplemental materials to ensure good placement
  • Facilitate weekly meetings with department staff to address concerns and develop proactive corrective action plans.
  • Review and audit all placements to ensure the Center is meeting placement monthly goal with compliance and effectiveness of delivery of services to trainees.
  • Prepare and submit related reports.
  • Track the job seeker after placement for 6 months to ensure their stability in their jobs
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive career readiness program for all incoming trainees.
  • Oversee trainee employability assessments and career readiness, including interviewing, training progress and evaluation processes.
  • Assist in evaluating center services for trainees; recommend modifications for improvement; participate in the Center’s training plan, and in providing updated information on career preparation.
  • Provides aptitude and interest assessments for students, to assist them in choosing an appropriate career pathway
  • Develop systems to acquaint new trainees with Employment Center systems, behavioral standards, benefits, rules, and procedures to enable them to participate successfully in the program.
  • Develop, update, and maintain a Trainee Handbook that accurately reflects current center behavioral expectations, benefits, policies, and procedures.
  • Assists in developing community linkages and volunteers to enhance placement opportunities
  • Maintain current information on the Center’s contacts (marketing database) and participation in community activities; prepare related reports, to effectively assist in the Center’s outreach and job development efforts.
  • Promote the development of Career Success Standards by modeling
    appropriate behaviors, mentoring trainees as necessary, and monitoring
    positive and negative behaviors through interventions.
  • Maintain accountability of staff, trainees and property; adhere to safety
    practices; attend all required training.
  • It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned
    within his/her capabilities as determined by the Executive Director.

Job Requirements

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree and five years’ experience, two of which must be
    supervisory.
  • Experience with youth and blue collars
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and computer proficiency
    required.
  • Preferred experience in some human resource capacity field that required
    strategic communications and an understanding of job placement and career
    counseling.
