Job Description

The Business Development Manager is a member of the Mission Coordination Team co-responsible with the Country Director for the overall development, management and quality control of the operations in the Egypt mission. The position will carry out the duties in close collaboration with the other departments and Action Against Hunger partners; under the overall supervision of the Country Director.

Goal 1: Supervision of Projects/Programmes Implementation

  • Responsible for the overall quality control of project management including needs assessments, choice of implementation methodologies, kick off and closure meetings, involvement of partners and monitoring;
  • Responsible for the overall quality control of methodological tools used in project implementation - including those for beneficiary selection, baseline surveys, focus group discussions;
  • Co-lead the process of project/program integration with the project's partner and governmental bodies
  • Provide technical and operational assistance to the Project Managers as required
  • Responsible for clear and regular communication with Program Managers on the progress of projects as well as facilitating solutions to any problems which may arise;
  • Timely Reporting

Goal 2: Partners identification, assessment and selection

  • Propose and co-lead new partners identification according to Action Against Hunger Strategy and stakeholders mapping tool
  • Responsible for the assessment of new partners capacities according to the partnership tool kit
  • Selection of new partners in coordination with Administration and Country Director
  • Co-lead partnership workshops regarding partnership build up, joint design of new projects, data analysis and project implementation
  • Liaise with HQ for dissemination of mission partners’ data and files

Goal 3: Program development

  • Knowledge and technical exchange of Action Against Hunger Technical policies, methodologies, programming and proposals
  • Lead workshops to brainstorm and design programmes main body: problem tree, solution tree, logical framework, activity and budget forecast

  • Lead proposal writing: complete proposal, attached documentation and liaison with the Logistics, Finance and Administration Department

  • Ensure Partners reporting and quality is aligned with project cycle, planning and tools

  • Participate in external and Action Against Hunger workshops, trainings which contribute to data collection and program development

  • Liaise and communicate with partners as well as with Action Against Hunger technical supervisors regarding program development (HQ and Middle East Regional Office

Goal 4: Egypt Country Strategy Development

  • Participate in the Egypt Strategy Workshop and the development of current and new tools and processes: DOIT and Balanced Scorecard
  • Promote and animate the innovation of strategic operative and technical approaches in the mission, in line with the overall ACF strategy in Egypt and worldwide
  • Develop a yearly action plan based upon the mission strategy
  • Work closely with the other members of the coordination team and program managers regarding the strategy follow up and reporting to Country Director

Goal 5: Other tasks

  • Manage the Human Resources under her/his responsibility (Program/Project Managers)
  • Co-implement the Gender certification tool with the Country Director
  • Update GESPRA and NHF Egypt in coordination with Coordadmin and Country Director Validation
  • Collaborate with the Country Director on tasks related to Action Against Hunger Communication and Advocacy strategies
  • Contribute to the security culture, policy and plan of Action Against Hunger

Job Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor, Master or PHD Degree; Fields of socioeconomic development, humanitarian and development cooperation, international relations, business development

Specific expertise:

  • Programming supervision
  • Management of Partnerships
  • Relation with a diversity of stakeholders
  • Data analysis and Proposal writing
  • Knowledge of Action against Hunger : Optional
  • Languages: English and Arabic
  • Office IT and specific systems:
  • Compulsory knowledge of Windows, word, excel, power point, use of email and internet tools
  • Mobility : National and International
