Job Description

The School of Computational Sciences and Artificial Intelligence at the University of science and technology (UST) at Zewail City announces a full-time faculty position, the Information Technology will be the focus area of this faculty opening.

We seek candidates with skills and demonstrated research expertise in information technology areas such as information technology infrastructure, enterprise architecture, high-performance computing, wireless networks, and computer networks.

Candidates must possess a Ph.D. and have a record of research and teaching with international experience. Professional experience in Information Technology fields is highly desirable.

The ideal candidate will be a dynamic leader eager to make interdisciplinary connections across Zewail City data science research community. We welcome candidates from a variety of academic disciplines, including electrical and computer engineering, information systems, computational infrastructure, and information science. Applicants must be currently engaged in advanced practice or research work in a specific discipline identified above. Professional Certifications in relevant IT areas are preferred.

Performance Functions:

  • Develop the curriculum and teach a variety of data science and analytics courses.
  • Actively engage with students and provide constructive feedback on assignments.
  • Motivate students to actively participate in all aspects of the educational process.
  • Participate in selecting and managing adjunct professors for assigned courses.
  • Develop and maintain curricula in both online and classroom formats.
  • Participate in program assessment, accreditation, and committee/community service.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Program Director and the Dean.

The successful candidate will contribute to undergraduate and graduate programs and will be actively engaged in research.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Successfully prepare, manage, and deliver course content in order to achieve course objectives, accommodate diverse learning styles, and meet student learning outcomes.
  • Actively engage students and provide prompt feedback in an objective, respectful, and effective manner.
  • Update, communicate and follow course syllabus content in accordance with directions provided and administrative guidance.
  • Work collaboratively with Zewail City's support services to identify and address the students' academic support needs.
  • Utilize ZC technology for the delivery of instruction and completion of operational processes; this includes but is not limited to the College's learning management system, email and calendaring solution, document management system(s), student information system, and employee portals.
  • Meet deadlines, including maintaining and submitting accurate class records, employee records/requests, and other assigned tasks.
  • When applicable, ensure laboratories are appropriately stocked with required supplies and equipment is in safe operating order.
  • Support student mentoring, advising, registration, and recruitment efforts, as appropriate or required.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities (selected or assigned) in order to enhance and apply knowledge/skills within the discipline, effectively utilize required course technology and College applications, and maintain licensures (as applicable).
  • Facilitate a positive, student-centered, and professional environment among students, faculty, and staff.
  • Participate in ZC service requirements, meetings, events, and committees as appropriate or required.

Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • Applicants must have a Ph.D. and MS obtained from a reputable university at the time of application, in electrical or computer engineering, information systems, or a related field.
  • Extensive research and industrial work experience in Information Technology areas.
  • Experience in teaching and curriculum development is desired.
  • A commitment to excellence in teaching and scholastic activities.
  • Applicants must demonstrate an excellent record of teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels, student evaluations, a significant record of publications in refereed journals, as well as a solid record in research.
