Job Description

A word about the job

  • We aim to have the sustainable growth strategy that builds a loyal fanbase, rather than having spikes in our traffic for some of our promoted content.
  • Advertising is not the way to grow for us.
  • This means Manshoor needs an innovative and driven senior team member who can distribute our content to the right audience, identify opportunities utilizing analytics, and thinks with fresh eyes about our advancing our marketing efforts to ultimately expand Mansoor's reach, engagement, loyalty, and impact. You will be tasked with building the best community development team in the Middle East to ultimately position Manshoor as the number one website for young Arabs.
  • Our team right now only consists of social media executive.
  • Our work is fluid and cross-functionally. Community Development cannot work without collaborating on a daily basis with the editorial content team, the product team, and the technology team.
  • It will be your job to coordinate with everybody to grow the business.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create and execute a growth strategy for Manshoor, utilizing the following:
  • Data Analytics: setting editorial priorities and making sense of editorial analytics (eg. article score) in a way that informs the editorial team on how our content has performed and working with them to make it better through A/B testing to advance the content.
  • Social Media & Distribution: directing social media to expand our reach within the communities we’re targeting and beyond by:
  • identifying trackable distribution channels and creating a distribution plan for every piece of content to maximize reach and traffic,
  • Using analytical tools to inform the editorial team trends and conversations that are coming up so they can tackle,
  • Identifying the communities Manshoor aims to reach through its content and editorial plan knowing these communities by catering to them and getting them involved with Manshoor through endorsing our content or getting involved in content creation themselves.
  • Lead offline marketing, events, and partnership efforts.
  • SEO: setting and building our SEO capabilities where needed.
  • Feedback: Work with development team to create a feedback loop to writers and contributors to help in retaining them, as well as creating a feedback mechanism with the editorial team to report insights and performance against traffic goals.
  • Business Development: Ability to advance the business growth by proposing products and services that target specific communities or segments. Other teams will work on this too, but you should be the one telling us what should be done. You’re our growth leader.
  • KPIs: Creating SMART goals for Community Development in line with business strategy. All our work must be towards measurable KPIs. Community Development KPIs should be linked directly to expanding our reach, engagement, loyalty, and impact.

  • We’re a startup with a small team of around 15 people, and expanding, so it’s expected from all of us to undertake other tasks including general administrative duties as may be required from time to time or work for longer hours (some of us practically live in the office). It’s a startup, it can be challenging, but if you’re passionate about enlightening the minds of young Arabs and making their lives better, we promise it will be fun.

Job Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience with a major website, digital advertising agency or online marketing, advertising, publishing, fashion or retail organization with a thorough understanding of online business models and strategies.
  • Deep understanding of social publishing platforms (beyond just Facebook).
  • Good editorial sensibilities (you understand the content and how it works and how people engage with it).
  • Understanding people and communities, what brings them together? How can we have them as a loyal base?
  • Familiarity with digital analytics and distribution tools; ChartBeat, EzyInsights or SocialFlow, NewsWhip or CrowdTangle, or equivalent is a huge plus.
