Job Description

Position Purpose:

The HR Manager holds accountability for:

  • Planning & directing the HR strategy for the company. Management of the People team in order to coordinate all HR practices and activities pertaining to employee related functions, governance, and legislative compliance;
  • Championing the company mission, vision, values, as well as business and strategic plan objectives;
  • Fostering the company culture and embedding effective methods of empowerment through responsibility and building employee ownership of the company.

The main roles and responsibilities include:

Strategic

  • Supports policy and strategy development specific to the needs of the designated area by:
  • Partnering with the Senior Leadership team to ensure that we have HR Strategies in place that allow us to deliver on business priorities and ask as Advisor on all employee-related matters;
  • Contributing to the implementation and evaluation of company human resources plans, policies, and company initiatives;
  • Supporting the development and implementation of workforce-related strategies which drive performance improvement and best practice;
  • Contributing to the implementation of attraction and retention strategies;
  • Building and maintaining a culture that allows us to continue to be awarded as a Great Place to Work.

Employee Relations

  • Advises Senior Leadership team in appropriate resolution of employee relations issues;
  • Listening to grievances and implementing disciplinary procedures;
  • Provide advice and guidance on individual employee relations cases, ensuring that these are well managed in line with local labor laws;
  • Keep up to date with legal developments and advise management on compliance and risk factors;
  • Review and manage existing employee processes, including final settlement computation and conducting exit interviews for all staff.

Performance Appraisal

  • Leading the Performance Review and Development Program, responsible to ensure effectiveness, compliance, and equity within organization;
  • Monitors and reviews the performance appraisal process and continually develop as necessary, ensuring that appraisals are carried out in a timely manner;
  • Governs salary administration program to ensure compliance and equity within organization.

Recruitment

  • Managing talent and succession planning.
  • Taking overall responsibility for recruitment activity and campaigns, providing management direction and counseling on hiring methods;
  • Shortlisting applicants for interview using a variety of selection techniques including psychometric testing.

Learning and Development

  • Providing expert input into the development, implementation and application of best practice, programs and initiatives;
  • Analyzing training needs in conjunction with line managers, implementing the training and development agenda, identify areas that need attention and improvement;
  • In consultation with line managers, follow up individual development needs and source external training provision as and when required;
  • Discuss training costs and budgets with L&D department.

Administration

  • Oversees the maintenance, and communication of records in the organization;
  • In conjunction with the Head of HR, ensure all company policies and procedures are up to date in line with current employment law. Ensure line managers are up to date with changes to any policies.

Job Requirements

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Possess at least 6-10 years HR related experience;
  • Significant experience in providing expert operational advice to Senior management on a range of general HR matters, including representing the organization during complex employee relations processes;
  • Proven experience in interpreting and advising on awards, legislation and policies, and applying them successfully to deliver business outcomes;
  • Experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of best practice policies, procedures, strategies and/or initiatives designed to improve HR management practices;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with proven abilities to communicate effectively and concisely in writing with clear expression, grammar, and syntax;
  • Maintains confidentiality, privacy, and sensitivity at all times;
  • Ability to analyze and solve complex situations and problems, and apply practical people management principles and solutions to business situations;
  • Leadership skills and management skills with the ability to motivate and influence others in an environment of change;
  • High level of interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills including the ability to compile concise written advice on complex and politically sensitive issues.
