Job Description
- Organise student testing, assessment, placement and induction
- Be proactive in offering support to teachers before it is requested
- Guide newly qualified teachers in preparing lessons
- Prepare class timetables ensuring teachers are allocated to classes and levels appropriately
- Implement and maintain IHCairo academic procedures including class registers, work records, student reports and certificates
- Monitor staff levels and ensuring appropriate staffing levels are maintained
- Hold regular staff meetings.
- Organise and contribute to the teacher development sessions if and when required
- Effectively manage materials and resources as provided by IH Cairo
- Deal with student and group leader enquiries on academic matters
- Deal with student issues and emergencies as they arise
- Ensure the supervision and discipline of students
- Carry out lesson observations and provide oral and written feedback to teachers; forward feedback documentation to all stakeholder. Where Academic Managers do not have diploma level qualifications observations will also be carried out by a Peripatetic Academic Manager.
- Provide support for teaching and preparation classes to all teachers.
- Work to ensure the academic and recreational aspects of the programme are integrated.
- Teach as required to meet operational demands eg teacher absence, increased/decreased student numbers.
- Dress appropriately at all times, in line with the IHCairo dress code.
- Support the Directors and other managers at the centre in the overall management of the centre
- Conduct 3-month probationary teacher appraisals. Conduct 6-month performance review and annual assessments of teaching staff
- Run monthly staff meetings off all teachers, share updates, strengths and development areas of the teaching center
- Align with the Customer Care team to run the mid-course surveys with students
- Respond to Educational complaints, providing advice and follow up to students
- Manage staff development of coordinators and teachers, use IH WORLD and EAQUALS portals proactively looking at training opportunities available
- Set monthly and yearly budgets for the department
- Attend International House Cairo Management Meetings/Marketing Meetings/Operations Meetings/Finance Meetings as of when required
- Attend external events as of when required
Job Requirements
- Native English speaker or non-native with fluent English and a clear accent
- Bachelor’s degree in any subject (education-related preferred)
- Preferably DELTA or CELTA certified and other educational certificates desirable
- solid teaching experience
- Previous teacher training and management experience
- Previous experience in IELTS Preparation and IELTS tests preferable
- Previous experience in managing a CELTA center or set up of a CELTA center is desirable
